21 Jan 26 Reply Tom's space at the bottom does make this a better photo. Jan 12th
21 Jan 26 Reply Definitely feeding in fall when the thistles go to seed, not nest building. Goldfinches love thistles. We don't. He is still in breeding plumage; they don't molt into winter drab until later in the season. I wish I hadn't cropped quite so tightly as there are falling thistle seeds in the larger version. 21 Jan 26 Comment It does have an ethereal quality to it. Jan 10th
21 Jan 26 Comment Oh yes, I would crop off a bit on the top and I'm not sure we need your name on the photo. Jan 10th
21 Jan 26 Comment Well captured song sparrow. I like your muted green background with the lighter area almost framing the bird. It is in good focus. I'd remove the leaves at the bottom and perhaps darken the bright leg if it were my photo. Jan 10th
21 Jan 26 Comment Greys and whites contrast nicely. You must have been right under this guy as it flew in with its stick or flew off with it. Lucky to have a broken cloud day. Hope you are feeling better. Jan 7th
21 Jan 26 Comment You and your geese. You do have a lot of species to choose from apparently. Yes, you were lucky to get both in focus. Looks like the goose is jumping over the gull. Even a little more space on the right side would give the goose more room to maneuver. Jan 7th
21 Jan 26 Comment I'm guessing it is an eastern wood-pewee. Certainly not large or colorful, but still interesting, well shown with minimal background and in focus. Jan 7th
21 Jan 26 Comment It is a beautiful pose of a beautiful bird, no doubt about that. I would like to see it a bit brighter though. The whites look blue and fade into the greenery. Try lowering the blue tones and see what happens. Jan 7th
21 Jan 26 Reply This is the breeding plumage for our American Goldfinch. You have a different one in Europe. This fellow is eating late summer thistle heads, not building a nest. Nesting is long over when the thistles are seeding.
I was commenting on our season we are experiencing now...drab and brown.

21 Jan 26 Comment That is bizarre! Both eyes in such good focus right next to each other. Eerie. The motion of the bird and water make a great shot. These must be very similar to our snowy egrets. Jan 7th

94 Jan 26 Reply It's hit or miss seeing moose in the park. There are a lot of them, more easily seen on the west side. Moose are getting more and more common in CO after being introduced in the 1970s. There is some debate as to whether they ever did roam CO in any numbers. Most say no.
Now they will probably add them to the hunting permit program.

94 Jan 26 Comment That is a beautiful lioness. Her whites are a little blown out, but not a big deal. She matches the grasses so perfectly, glad she isn't stalking me.
I'm with Sarita, look forward to more Africa shots.

94 Jan 26 Comment Wow, those are some eagle eyed comments. Good for them for noticing. It is a gorgeous bird and the water colors framing it are perfect. Nice shot. Jan 9th
94 Jan 26 Comment I like your balanced crop with the reflection included. Whites handled well. It does look vast, because it is. I've never been and that's one bucket list item that probably will never happen, so I'm happy to look at your shots. Jan 9th
94 Jan 26 Comment More gorgeous birds with flaps down for landing or taking off? And more colorful feet too. I'd give them even a tad bit more room to move on the right side. Great composition, focus, color, etc. Jan 9th
94 Jan 26 Comment Is it jumping or landing? Looks like a flaps down landing. And what beautiful feet she has. Can't believe your birds are already thinking about nesting. It will be months before our nesting season begins. BTW, I don't think of egrets as "small birds"; pewees, yes. Personally, because you have such great focus, I'd crop it even tighter. Colors terrific. Jan 9th
