We have too many double-crested cormorants here in Colorado and Nebraska...quite a ways from any ocean. |

Now that's a bird! They are huge, but unless you see one in a zoo it's hard to get a feel of the size. Like the red eyes and the stare. Think about the small animal caught in those huge talons. Yikes. |

Great stop-action and nice background water. Nothing to complain about here. Just wish cormorants were more colorful. |

WOW, what a bird. I've never seen this one before! The sharp capture and colors are exquisite. The crop is needed to balance the photo. If you want more background in the shot it should be in front of the bird...still a little tight on the left side in my opinion. |

Waxwings are such photogenic birds. Their subtle colors, crests, yellow tail tips and red "wax" on wing tips. So lovely. I like the action implied. Nice catch. |

It is a very unusual face color, most are yellow. Like the slick water look on the back and the close-up of the face. It must have just come up from a dive. |

converted to monotone, yes. I decided to leave the sky as it was for the contrast with the sloths...hi-key as Gwen noted. |

definitely high key. I liked that the 3 toes were so visible. Glad you got to Costa Rica...what a special country. |

I've decided the yellows might be a little strong. maybe try toning them down a little and see what you think. |

okay, good to know 1/3200...jeez! I've photographed hundreds of hummers...trying to get them in the sunlight is the only way. Dark is too tough. |

Lovely landscape. Colors and focus good. I like the little waterfall on the right. Hard to imagine it as the city dump. Guess they were expecting the tides to carry away the refuse? |

It is amazing how acrobatic hummingbirds are. Flying forwards, backwards, even upside down. You caught this one at a great moment. Colors, focus, cropping...all good. I'm surprised ISO 1600 didn't freeze a wings a little more, but they are fast. |

Obviously bugling. Almost expect to see frosty breath coming from his mouth if that is ice on the grass. If not, perhaps toning it down and making it more green would be good. He is tack sharp and a beautiful specimen. |
