Have to admit Jim's version takes away that muddy look and adds a bit of color. Makes a more interesting shot. |

My guess is the photo was run through a denoise program and it got a bit overdone? |

Try a very small and sharp clone stamp along the edge to get rid of the black...either side, bird side or background side. |

Didn't see this earlier. I've never seen the Great Gray...what a stupendous bird. I like your crop, focus, DOF, the whole lot. I do agree softening the background takes out some of the too light patches. Nice capture. You didn't mention if you found this bird in the wild or not. |

I like the little dove just as it is. Not a particularly colorful subject, but every feather is in place and the eye is shining bright. You did a good job fixing the original. The background is much improved. |

Ditto what Tom said. Something odd about the separation between the bird and the water. Perhaps include more of the moorhen and straighten the crop?? |

Not sure how to fix this one. The concept was good, but the result doesn't quite make it. |

Masterful blending. Tom's idea is good, just maybe a bit too much. Ducks need some oomph and definition. Too blah otherwise. |

Lovely goldfinch. Only suggestions I have is to lighten the very dark area above the eye so it doesn't blend in and somehow lessen the contrast on the left side of the bird. It appears in the selection to blur the background a slight black outline was left. Love the setting and leaves. |

What fun to see the hawk cooling off. It seems to be saying something to you. The reflection is nice touch. You might tone down the bright top of its head and darken the greenery to make it stand out? |

Oh yes, beetles, moths, butterflies and other flies are all pollinators. Lucky thing as insect populations are crashing. |

Only my preference for deleting dark, blurry bits. I thought about the water too, but decided it wasn't great enough to leave in the muddy log. I realize the turtle wasn't really watching the butterfly, but liked the idea that it was. |

Good catch on the rainbow in the waterfall's plunge. Definitely not too cramped. Your focus is on the rainbow...including more would only dilute your subject. The colors and texture of the rocks is also an important feature. More would not be better. |

Good seal shot. Every bit of fur is in focus. Muted and blurred background colors are nice. The seal looks like it is enjoying life to the max. |

Love the determined walk of that puffin. Who doesn't love puffins?? Keeping or cropping the blurry ones in the background is a tricky decision. Not sure which I would go with. The main one is so great, I might be tempted to get rid of the others and expand the crop on the right with PS. Also, maybe lighted slightly the face on the dark side? |

Love the interaction between the two. The turtle does seem to be watching the butterfly. Your focus, DOF, and other settings all are spot on. Very nice photo. Only think I might do is crop off the blurry bottom edge. |
