I like the changes Isaac made to the White-eye, maybe the Japanese species? |

Apparently only along the FL coast do Boat-tails have brown eyes. Everywhere else they are yellow. Their plumage is stunning but can't say I love grackles. The bird and worm could be in slightly better focus. Color is good. |

Sarita, you always find a good shot. Titmouse with acorn is so apt...and well done. If I were you I'd tone down the blue just a bit. |

Good catch. Perhaps lighten the gull just a bit so we could see what it is carrying in its mouth? |

I hope that heron isn't about to land on the hippo to enjoy eating its fish dinner. What an unusual juxtaposition. |

How lucky for you to see and photograph albatrosses. They seem to be preening the lucky one who, without anthropomorphizing too much, seems to be enjoying the attention. Nice shot |

The story is good, but without your explanation I would have no idea what the finch is sitting on. The exposure looks better in the original. In fact the story is better told with your original. Afraid the bird itself isn't sharp enough from the distance you had to take it from to blow it up as much as you did.
You must have better shots from such a special trip? However, if you want to print, I would lower the brightness of the shell. Crop out a lot of the background and add more shell. Just my opinion you understand. |

I think that's because they are a different species of spoonbill. |

Never a stupid question. (Only stupid people don't ask questions, in my opinion.)
Turkey feathers are always iridescent, but the red wattles and snood are only that bright when they are courting. Also facial colors dull a bit when mating season is over.
Glad you enjoyed the blog bit. |

Doesn't look like you had to do much work on the original to get this exquisite shot of the spoonbill. Colors of feathers and sky right on. And what a gorgeous bird it is. Would love to see your underwater shots. Are you in another group showing those? |

you are right, they aren't in mating mode now...next spring they'll be at it again. I didn't mention when mating season is, I probably should have. |

Nicely blurred and warm background for a bright white bird. You might try burning the egret to get some more definition in the feathers. Focus on the head is a bit soft. Interesting position. It fits well in the cropped photo. |

who doesn't like cardinals? I'd like a bit more contrast to bring out her colors, but the snow on her beak and the good focus make a nice photo. Wish there were a bit more texture/contrast in the snow. |

You obviously had your camera on burst mode. Great capture. That heron nailed the landing on the dam. They are such spectacular birds. I like your 3 panel presentation. Tells a more complete story.
The kind of bird I love to photograph...big and colorful. |

What a gorgeous bird in perfect focus. Love the contrasting, unobtrusive background. Really sets off the colors of the beak and feathers. I've seen them in good numbers in Mexico and S. America, but never so close. |

Yes, wild turkeys are one of few avian success stories. Their populations continue to grow while other bird numbers are crashing. This guy was in a group with several males vying for the females' attentions. How could they resist??
Next week I lead a hike featuring turkeys (I'm a volunteer naturalist for Boulder County) at one of the county properties known to have lots of turkeys. We probably won't see a one. Same thing happens when I lead a hike about rattlesnakes at what was once called Rattlesnake Mtn. |

Great shot. I like the unflipped version better so the bird would be looking into the photo rather than out of it. Color good, focus good. Don't know how you managed to handhold at 1200mm. Good arm. |

Didn't even notice that, but there aren't a lot of choices out there. Only a few are able to hang on in the harsh, dry climate. Thanks for visiting. |

Humm. I'm not a big fan of abstracts. I find the colors to be over-saturated with some areas blown out. People who know a lot more than I do about such photos are better able to evaluate it. Sorry. |

gorgeous magnolia flower, lighting perfect. Having the stamens (?) puddled on the bottom petal is a nice touch. Maybe burn the lighter areas in the background? Wish the petal on the left wasn't obscured, but probably hard to see the whole flower. So sorry to hear you lost the tree. |

Lovely falls. Always tricky to get shadowy places to show nicely without overexposing the sky areas. I actually prefer you "original" better for the colors, reflections and peaceful feeling. |

They are truly magnificent. Like that the colors are so vivid and both eyes show (with catch lights). Background nicely blurred. Static hummers are gorgeous, but if caught flying, I think it makes a better story. Saying that, however, I have many photos of lovely static hummers and I like them all. I'd love to go back to Costa Rica, a truly charmed country. |

I don't think the osprey is "angry" ( a human emotion) but thrilled with its catch. Really like the photo. I've seen many osprey photos with the whole bird carrying the fish, but like this one the best. Amazing focus and shows how they turn the fish in their talons to be the most aerodynamic. |

I agree with Roy. His darkening really brings out the bird. (which I think is an Anhinga rather than a cormorant?) Altogether a lovely capture. |
