Cockatoos are such photogenic birds. Sorry to hear the corellas are so destructive. Australia is my favorite place to see large, colorful birds...you are lucky to have so many.
Can't think of any improvements to your shot |

Good save on a mediocre original photo. I'd take it one step further and clone out the light object behind the tail. It's too bright and adds nothing. Robins really are beautiful birds that don't get enough photo love. Nice colors.
Also you might try cropping out the blurred something in the foreground. |

Very lovely iris with good blurred grey background. I was given a number of these by a friend, and I'm thrilled to know the name. |

one aging implement is sort of boring, but your grouping is very impressive. Texture and tone very nice. |

I'm not sure what you mean. How does one give a ray of light? |

We don't get purple martins out here in the west. They are such great insect eaters, I wish we had them. Detail good, insect in beak a nice added touch, lighting good, colors perfect. Didn't realize judges don't like "bird on a stick" since unless they are in flight, that's where they sit. |

That you managed to get them both in focus is masterful. I agree that the white bird is a bit blown out, but that's hard to fix. Water and reflection are nice. Mudflats an unfortunate fact of life. |

I think the images got switched. The one labeled original is great and probably the one you meant to submit. |

Wow! Those cranes are terrific. Assume that's snow that's being kicked up? You must have been there in winter. Wonderful shot. Goodness, 1/2500 shutter speed. Don't know if my cameras even go that fast. |

Maybe they blew off course and ended up at your lake. Lucky you. Pretty geese. I love the water colors and texture as a background. |

Such ugly little not-duckings, but so wonderful a capture. Mom (or dad) is a protective presence. Good color, good focus, good cropping. All in all a great shot. |

It does remind me of a painting, but no, it isn't. All is real but I did edit out a flower that was out of focus. Thanks for your comment. |

Now that I see the whole photo, I'd leave all 5 flying ones in (odd numbers supposedly better. You can extend the sky above.) Then decide how many of the nesting ones you want to keep. Cloning out the others flying was a good decision. |

I was 5 weeks in the Botswana bush. My advice on cameras is take 2 bodies, and 2 lenses and forget the rest. You won't have time to be switching lenses and don't want to get dust in them anyway. Keep the weight as minimal as possible. Leave the tripod and take a beanbag. You won't often be out of the truck.

I didn't even know what you meant by ICM, but I've looked it up and maybe will give it a try sometime. I have seen some good ones using trees as the subject. |

The cub is standing on its hind legs. This is a very normal pose for curious cubs. Probably why it's semi-hidden behind the tree. Why it is ignoring me, I have no idea.
I don't see any area around its head with no pixels. Not sure what you are seeing. I did isolate the bears in order to tone down the original overexposed background. That's why the mom's back looks lighter. |

Well it does evoke colors of NM. Personally I would have liked a bit more detail in the sweep. |

Well I'd say from a rocking boat you nailed it! Gannets are one of my favs. Such lovely birds. Your colors and focus are great and the rookery looks busy. You could clone out the ones that are cut off at the edges. Chopped birds, not a good feature. |

Very good DOF and focus. Wish you hadn't cut off the reflection. Whole photo is too light in my opinion and needs to be toned down a bit offering more contrast with the background. |

Hmm, having my camera club over on Sunday for a hummer shoot. (I live close to Boulder). Hummers are tricky because they are so fast. Sadly the temperature is supposed to reach 100. However, I have a couple of issues with your hummer. The foreground wing has too obviously been isolated from the processing. The background is too busy to get a good look at the bird. Good focus and definition on the face and flower. Perhaps you could crop for those? |

Interesting that you switched photos from the first one posted. I don't have a problem with the angle. No safari lets people out of the truck. Background a bit too bright. Since the focus and colors are so great, have you thought of cropping it to a square featuring the darling face in the middle? Tail fades out to nothing anyway. Just a thought. It's a very cute cub. |
