You are right, most photos are "just what they are". Some are just better than others. I know you have many better ones.
Not that your hawk is a bad one, just not exceptional. I agree with you that Ron's fix made things worse. |

A lovely rendition of a rather boring bird. Alas, I so like the colorful males. |

Heron flying in definitely too blue. |

Unfortunately the sky is so blown out in places the only fix would be to replace the background. Difficult if not impossible to do, I'm afraid, with the lovely leaves and woodpecker in the foreground staying in tact. |

Nice tree sparrow shot. I might have taken a bit off top and right side, but I get dinged often for not leaving enough so don't listen to me. |

Sometimes true-to-life photos aren't the most compelling. The hawk does get lost in the background. In Ron's darkened re-do the beak is lost in the leaf litter. |

I love the interaction between the doves. The eye color is stunning. These are common birds in Australia, but I never saw such a compelling photo. |

Thanks for the online sleuthing John. Look forward to seeing pics from your East coast leafing adventure if you go. It's worth it! But start in Minnesota and go east. Midwest has some spectacular colors and not as many tourists. |

I couldn't believe it came out at all. Totally wrong settings. They didn't ask me about the name (they never do!). I have no idea why it's named that.
I am naive, I thought all the cameras we use are all DSLRs? |

Just saw a number of these gorgeous guys in AZ and Baja CA. They are stunning. Nice capture. Wish you'd been able to get a bit closer. |

what a beautiful cat with a stunning belly! Good grief, how could it fit in another bite.
I do know they eat until they can hardly move and then go to digest somewhere and sleep it off. Makes me hurt just looking.(Are you sure it's not a pregnant female about to drop a kitten?) |

These beauties are found in Thailand also, I saw them there...and the female is as colorful as the male. You got a lovely shot and the string story is interesting. |

A terrific shot with some humor thrown in. Colors are stunning, the fuchsia a perfect flower for this hummer. You could probably crop off some of the top to focus more intently on the bird...more of a square photo. |

Ditto to Serita. However, I'm trying to find the breeding markers you mention, and not finding them. Deep orange irises and blue-black lores, etc. ?? |
