14 Dec 23 Comment Yes, tighter crop on bottom (but leave the shadows intact) and on the right side to get rid of the light pole and on the left to balance the image. The sky is blown out, try some ways to tone it down or give it a bit of color. Vignette; a matter of taste. Not sure it would add much here.
Very nice capture of a moment.

14 Dec 23 Comment All good comments. Only one to add. As a bird photographer myself I would have waited until the cockatoo came out a bit further to get more of its body in the photo. They are such gorgeous birds. Dec 27th
14 Dec 23 Comment Interesting subject. I would like to see tack sharp focus on the dark seed. The rest slightly blurred is fine. Toning down blow out areas in upper left might help too.
Lovely group you have!

14 Dec 23 Comment Darcy is correct, the original color is preferable. Sky too blown out and color too pink in the submission.
Buffalo is darling.

21 Dec 23 Reply I don't even need to generate. I'm sure there's room. You're probably right. Dec 19th
21 Dec 23 Comment The flotsam doesn't bother me. The only thing you might try is desaturating it just a tad, ever so little, so the water looks a more realistic color of blue? Dec 16th
21 Dec 23 Reply looks to me like it has band on right leg. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I was just surprised someone is banding pelicans. Dec 16th
21 Dec 23 Comment Looks like a hallelujah landing. I love pelicans also. Agree about cropping the top down. Interesting that it's a banded one. Didn't know they bothered banding pelicans. Nice, sharp image. Dec 15th
21 Dec 23 Comment Mallards are so common, yet so beautiful. Lovely catch with all the stunning feather colors showing. Dec 3rd
21 Dec 23 Comment Never heard of this gull, where is it from? Very nice flight photo. Only small fix I would make is to lighten the face a little to showcase the red eye. Dec 3rd
21 Dec 23 Comment A beautiful duck I had no idea we had in the states. Nice sharp face and lovely foliage. Nice shot. And thanks for the kudos on the Steller's Jay. The reason I mentioned about the name change is that Audubon club is renaming many birds with peoples' names to more descriptive titles...maybe "hoodlum jay". I call them bad boys because they empty my feeders faster than I can fill them. Dec 3rd

94 Dec 23 Comment They are pretty wily for sure. He may have been aware of me, but I was inside the house. Altho I love seeing them, I suspect they are not loved by the smaller animals and birds around here. We also have a family of grey foxes, but I rarely see them. They show up at the compost pile at night and get caught on my critter cam so I know they're here. Dec 10th
94 Dec 23 Reply I was only thinking of a crop to keep the bird camouflaged in the weeds, but give us a bit closer look at the heron. The close up is nice, but I agree, having the bird blending into the background makes a more interesting shot. Dec 10th
94 Dec 23 Reply It was in the morning, but not that early...maybe around 9 or 10. You give me too much credit for thinking through the settings. I leave ISO on auto and adjust the shutter speed as needed. With animals that are moving, I shoot first and ask questions later. Fortunately, Photoshop can usually bail me out. Dec 9th
94 Dec 23 Comment I like the diagonals. Personally, I think it looks too purple and a bit grainy on my screen. I know what you mean about having to punch up RAW files tho. Dec 8th
94 Dec 23 Comment Appropriate title for sure, but cropping about half out would still have done the job and given us a better look at your lovely heron. (in my opinion) Dec 8th
94 Dec 23 Comment Silhouettes are in a special class. This is a good one. Don't know how I could say it better than Sarita. Dec 8th
94 Dec 23 Comment OOH, I love this guy. I presume they are very large?
You really captured his personality and habitat. Very nice.

94 Dec 23 Comment Looks like a hermit hummingbird to me. don't know why Merlin and I-naturalist had any problems with this one. Haven't been to CR in a number of years myself, but I did see howler monkeys (one even hurled his poop at me) and sloths, but my quest for a tapir ended in only seeing the tracks.
Yours is an exceptional photo of the hermit and pink banana flower. I look forward to more (I can never get tired of hummers).
