No, hand held. I've gotten similar results at speeds as low as 1/800. Just need co-operative hummers. (I hate tripods altho do understand they can be useful). |

Oh dear, I hate to be so agreeable...but above comments, ditto. We do need some variety in this group, we have become so bird focused. With the new bird group going now, maybe we can diversify our entries. Welcome and thanks for the landscape. |

Interesting catch by Sherry. I like the one with the tongue showing better, doesn't cut off the bill and shows a bit more interaction of bird with tree. It's eating, not pecking. As Sarita noticed, the lichen is a little distracting because it looks like a spider. It does catch the eye and take it away from the woodpecker. |

I know what you mean trying to catch terns in flight. I was just over in the NE sandhills trying to catch the black terns there, with no success at all. I think you did rather well. Now just get one you can crop more with perfect focus!! Best of luck. |

I like your crop. Know it's hard to give up reflections, but it shows the faces so much better. Spoonbills in France are probably the same that show up in Africa...different species, and not pink. You did well with the bright light...the white feathers aren't blown out. Good work.
BTW, flamingos in USA aren't domestic, they are wild also. Only domestic ones I'm aware of are the plastic variety on suburban lawns. TeeHee...only kidding. |

I don't know why you would feel constrained by any aspect ratio. Crop to what the subject suggests. Personally I would add some contrast so the red would pop and the shadow would be more noticeable. Nice image. |
