94 May 22 Reply Hi Sherry, thanks for your input. I only have 2 aging lenses (70-300 zoom and 24-105) and 2 Canon camera bodies (EOS 70D and 90D). I use haze filters to protect the lenses. I own polarizer filters but rarely manage to remember to use them. That's it, my entire kit.
When I travel I don't like to worry about really expensive gear getting stolen. Plus I'm cheap. My focus is wildlife and travel photography. As for f stops. I play a lot with those depending on the available light and the distance of the subject... But mostly with how much of the image I want in focus.
Saying that, I frequently have every setting wrong when something exciting happens. Bah!

94 May 22 Reply oops, shouldn't skim May 13th
94 May 22 Reply Smaller is a higher number...try f/8 or for landscapes, or go up to f/22 for nearly everything in focus. At f/22 focus on a mid-range object to get maximum range of focus. In low light, though, f/22 will be too dark. May 13th
94 May 22 Reply Yeah, tough decision. That red eye is pretty great, but the greens are nice too. Anyway, lovely spoonbill...I love large, colorful birds. May 12th
94 May 22 Comment What a gorgeous peregrine. I've seen so few in my lifetime. Good focus on every part of the bird. Sky replacement really adds to the overall impact. I like the diagonal presentation. May 12th
94 May 22 Comment Zion is such a photogenic park. For merging, perhaps try leaving out #2. Original and #3 are enough in my opinion. Also, if possible a smaller f/stop? Give it a try next time. May 12th
94 May 22 Comment Beautiful spoonbill, lovely colors and great detail. I think I might have chosen your photo with the eye showing if it is as good as this one. May 12th
94 May 22 Comment Great shot. Can't imagine how you got the wings in such focus with a 1/250 shutter speed. Good work. May 12th
94 May 22 Comment Love the egret and action. Only nitpick is, on my screen the photo looks a bit too bright. May 12th
