Here is a cropped revision. The top of the bug is how I shot it, with the lines and backlight. Should I leave it as is or what? Would it qualify as Macro at this size? All comments welcome. |

You should enter this one, somewhere! Got 2nd place for GBH, which I had to be happy with.

Thank you. Any title ideas? I rarely see or shot these things, so you might have given them more thought? |

Don't you love red-headed woodpeckers? I've only seen them about 3 times in my life, so what a thrill to get a shot. I agree with Damon on the sharpening. Topaz might do a good job on the feathers, but the tree does not need to be that sharpened. Since the photo is the bird, might crop it in more? What a fun day that must have been! |

When I opened this image, the first thing I said was WOW. What a gorgeous capture. Talk about leading lines taking you into the photo. Black and white is something you do so very well. So where will you enter this image in a competition? |

Thanks Anne. No, I shot it from outside (someone's locked vehicle) as it scooted around. Do you think it needs more bug and less glass? I liked the colors in the glass, so wanted to keep some of it. |

Thank you for all this info. I rarely do macro shots, except when they present themselves to me. I'll check out your suggestions. Is there a filter in PS to remove the dust? I haven't used it before, but it sounds like I should at this time. |

I think this is beautiful! Astonished at what you did to get the shot. What a challenge you took on, and it is great "still-life" shot. |
