3 Aug 22 Comment Hi Keiu-Hanh, so sorry I'm a little late to the party... I love the image elements with the butterfly and lily! It directs the viewers eye to the foreground, with a nice bokeh background. There is a nice balance of colors, leading lines, and great use of space. Yes, although it is a bit soft or blurry (which I think much of this is due to resizing the image for this platform), the overall composition is very nice! Aug 30th
3 Aug 22 Comment Hello Ruth, Such a beautiful view of the Mayflower Gulch! Great realistic view of the landscape in which the colors and lighting work well together. The right side of the frame was a bit distracting because the frame still leans and not straightened symmetrically. This is just a personal preference. It seems like a wonderful place for hiking and taking in nature. Aug 28th
3 Aug 22 Comment Wow, Michael! Honestly, there's not much to add with all the wonderful comments. Your image is such beautiful composite from the placement of each flower, the colors/light, the symmetry/balance, the background, to the flow and cohesiveness. Personally, flowers remind of the beauty that still exists in this world... With certainty, I would print/frame this for my wall!!

I've learned over the years that competition judges from any arena is merely subjective. Sure, they may use a rubric to help assess an image or candidate to provide some level of objectivity, but in its pure nature, the process is still subjective. Bottomline, we create images/art for ourselves and if it's competition worthy, then great. If not, then that's ok, too. I accept the feedback for what it is and continue to do what I love because in the end, that's all that matters!

3 Aug 22 Reply Hello Kieu-Hanh, Appreciate your feedback and warm welcome! Now that you mention it, the framing certainly does mimic hotel drapes, LOL! Unfortunately, hauling a heavy flash around with the Canon 5D Mark IV while touring would be impractical and painful. Additionally, with the stampede of people behind, timing was an issue. I literally had maybe 30-seconds to capture. If I had more time, then the scene could be captured without the window opening and with ND Filters, but I thought, "Hey, why not, a window opening is different." Aug 28th
3 Aug 22 Reply Hello Michael, Thank you for your feedback and warm welcome! Surprisingly, it was so terribly crowded in Venice week in which this snippet doesn't truly tell the story. As you stated, those "if only" situations plague a photographer's psyche that it can really affect the travel experience. I had to learn to do the best that I can with the time given, which is still a tough pill to swallow sometimes. Aug 28th
3 Aug 22 Reply Hello Ruth, Appreciate your feedback and warm welcome! It was really pure luck to capture so many elements within 2 minutes. Gosh, if only I had more time, LOL! Aug 28th
3 Aug 22 Comment Hello Mary Ann, I really love your cityscape of San Fran! Capturing this with fog is challenging, so creating a composite was a great idea. The panoramic view has great symmetry of buildings, lights, and water. I agree with LuAnn that using the Lens Correction and Auto upright transform tool will help with alignment because some elements look tilted. Realism of elements in composites is very tricky. The moon looks a bit displaced. Perhaps placing it behind the fog, as it is rising will add to the realism that it belongs in the scene. Nice image! Aug 17th
3 Aug 22 Comment Hello LuAnn, I love your creativity here... Awesome image! To take something ordinary and transform it into something extraordinary is true talent. The simplicity, textures, muted colors, watercolor preset, along with great use of white space draws the viewer into the image. Personally, I love filters/presets (particularly HDR) of any kind because it adds something to the mundane. Just wondering how this would look with an HDR preset to give it a little pop, along with the watercolor effect? This probably would affect some of the texture a bit. However, I would definitely print this for my wall! Aug 17th
3 Aug 22 Reply Hello Mary Ann, Appreciate your warm welcome into the group! You should definitely return to Venice with camera in hand... So many amazing images to capture! Italy is one of my favorite countries. My husband and I started in Venice, then took trains to Milan, Florence, Cinque Terre, Switzerland, and then Rome. Let's just say, I was editing images for quite some time, LOL!!!

Appreciate your comments and feedback about cropping in a bit tighter, which truly makes sense. This would provide more focus on the landscape. Thank you!

3 Aug 22 Reply Hello LuAnn, Thank you for welcoming me into the group... Love the opportunity to gain additional perspectives from fellow photographers!

I really appreciate your insightful feedback!! It was a bit challenging to compose quickly with a stampede of people behind you, LOL. Just glad I was able to capture a decent image.

Your suggestion to crop the foreground a bit tighter is an excellent idea. Honestly, I didn't give it much thought until you mentioned this, and now I look at the image with a different perspective... Thank you!
