26 Jan 22 Reply Hi Tony, Thank you for the warm welcome! Darkening the sky is definitely an option... Appreciate that feedback! Oh yes, she was a real trooper... Not only was she barefooted, client was freezing, but the couple braved right through it. Oh the things we do for great photos, LOL!!! Jan 26th
26 Jan 22 Comment Hi Andy, Appreciate your welcome! Your suggestion could work, without detracting from the image. Thank you for the feedback! Jan 16th
26 Jan 22 Reply Mervyn, thanks so much for the welcome! Having a foreground that would naturally draw the viewer's eye to the couple was the idea. You're right... too much sky is easily fixable. This young couple loved their photos that captured a special memorable moment. Really appreciate your feedback! Jan 12th
26 Jan 22 Comment Big fan of human interest images… They're genuine and in the moment, which is a point in time that cannot be duplicated! Sure, a partial eye would add a connection, but I can still feel his anguish with both eyes covered. This would look wonderful as a black and white or greyscale monochrome vignette. Great image! 26 Jan 22 Comment Perfect framing between the trees… Love this technique if context is not lost! Love as is... Muted colors add to the cloudy day vibe. Perhaps, shooting from a lower angle would elevate the bridge a little higher and allow you to capture more of the tree tops. This would add more context and eliminate the need to crop the top, leaving just two sticks. Cropping will lose context and may look a little odd with just hanging branches/leaves next to two sticks. Great concept and shot! Jan 12th
26 Jan 22 Comment I agree with the aforementioned comments. Such a wonderful nature shot with clarity and nice depth of field. My eyes gravitated to the reflection of the eye in the pond immediately. I found this a little odd as to why the rest of the heron was not in the reflection, only the portion of its head… The entire body would have added some uniqueness. Since the rest of the body is missing, perhaps, I would clone the eye out since it's a distraction due to missing information. Very nice capture! Jan 12th
26 Jan 22 Reply Hi Anges, fortunately, the rest of the series has the right balance of sky :) I really appreciate your welcome and feedback... Thank you! Jan 12th
26 Jan 22 Comment Jose and Bob's eval's are spot on! I really like the mood, simplicity, rule of thirds, framing, and use of light/dark to direct attention, which is toward the heaviness and trailing clouds… Very creative! However, as the viewer, I would be a bit confused as to what's attached to the steeple and would yearn for more. Perhaps, this is your objective. I really love your 2nd image to Bob's reply! My eye was guided immediately by the repetition of form and color on the left toward the clouds, which is complemented with the rolling grassy hill on the right. This tells a better story even more so with the menacing clouds… Very nice work! Jan 12th
26 Jan 22 Comment Huge fan of silhouetted images... Very nice! This tells a wonderful story of a relationship between a cowboy and his horse with great composition elements! The one flashlight behind the subject gives just enough of an outline to give a mysterious mood to both the cowboy and horse. Horse has bit of a catch light in its eye! I can still see quite a bit of noise, though. Hard to gain clarity without much light. With such a high ISO, it's so difficult to remove all the noise even with great programs such as Topaz Denoise or On1 NoNoise AI. The starry sky definitely adds another layer of interest and texture. 26 Jan 22 Comment Although the cropped portrait is nicely done and has great composition elements, the original candid tells a better story and renders a different mood. It helps to ask, "What story do I want to convey to my viewer?" The other geisha and surroundings adds layers of color, texture, a different smile, and movement. It's clear they are engaging, as they are strolling. Love this vibe! Jan 11th
26 Jan 22 Reply Bob, your feedback is greatly appreciated! I love seeing through the eyes of other photographers because they spot things that I simply overlook. Your suggestion is spot on! In looking at it again, I can't believe that I left all that sky dead space, yikes... Thanks again! Jan 11th
26 Jan 22 Reply Jose, thanks so much for your feedback! You're absolutely correct... This photo is from a series. Our session lasted for about 2 hours with 3 outfit changes. As you know the sun moves quickly, so timing was a challenge. Attached is one of the close-ups from the series. Jan 11th
