Here are 2 definitions:
from Britanica: street photography, a genre of photography that records everyday life in a public place. The very publicness of the setting enables the photographer to take candid pictures of strangers, often without their knowledge. Street photographers do not necessarily have a social purpose in mind, but they prefer to isolate and capture moments which might otherwise go unnoticed.
from Wikipedia:Street photography, also sometimes called candid photography, is photography conducted for art or enquiry that features unmediated chance encounters and random incidents within public places. Although there is a difference between street and candid photography, it is usually subtle with most street photography being candid in nature and some candid photography being classifiable as street photography. Street photography does not necessitate the presence of a street or even the urban environment. Though people usually feature directly, street photography might be absent of people and can be of an object or environment where the image projects a decidedly human character in facsimile or aesthetic |

I think that street photography is not well understood by many. I myself took sometime to get my head around it. To me to be able to comment on a photograph in a street category must start with whether or not this photo should be entered into this category in the first place. In my opinion this image does not really fall into the street photography category. Having a street in the image does not make it a street photo, and a street in the photo is not a mandatory element of street photography. What is a important part of street photography is humanity. I would suggest that an image that is focused closer to humans or something related to humanity would be a better selection for this category. Please do not take this the wrong way, I am only sharing my opinion of what type of photos should be submitted. Please understand Marianne that I am only trying to help. Unless we discuss this no one will learn anything about this genre. |

Due to the architecture of the building and the pick-up truck this image has an interesting Western feel. In my opinion street photography is about humanity, a person or people going about their daily routine, which could be either mundane or something unusual. Either way, in my opinion, a person or people should be the main focus of street photography. I think by cropping in and focusing more on the person in the image makes it a stronger street photograph. I have attached a version to consider. Of course this is open to discussion. |

A classic street shot showing a human going about their daily business or routine. The use of Topaz definitely helped sharpen the image where necessary. I used Topaz denoise for my photo which taken at 1000 ISO, needed some help to reduce the noise. |

Sorry it is my first time sharing and didn't realize I can submit some info about the photo. So thanks everyone for the nice feedback. Actually I climbed on top of the median and while my wife held my ankles so that I wouldn't fall I took the photo. I was lucky that there was a pause or opening in the crowd on both sides of the street as I took the photo. I think that helps a lot. It was blue hour so I had to increase the ISO to 1000 to get the photo at 1/200 with it at F9 (maybe overkill) so that I could have a good depth of field into the distance. |
