Hi Douglas - I think the conversion to black and white really improved the impact of this image. The b&w version just seems more timeless and dramatic. That dress is something else! The image is further enhanced by your choice of depth of field, which really isolates the subject. When I look at the image I find myself wanting to see all of the photographer on the right or none of the photographer. I think having all the photographer would be great and add to the storytelling element of this shot. However, without him, the image would still communicate the rite of passage identified in the title. |

Hi Albert - You really have captured a tender moment between the two subjects, which creates impact for this image. The lions are nicely isolated from the background and I think the composition works well. To my eye, the texture of the lions looks a little strong. I wonder if bringing down the sharpening on the subjects might be something to consider. |

Hi Barbara - What an impactful image you created with your conversion. To me, there's so much energy in this shot with the clouds and the positions of the birds' wings. You also caught the front bird in a very emotive pose. We viewers don't know what is attracting that bird's attention, but that doesn't stop us from imagining what might be going on. Well done all around! |

Hi Kirsti - I really like this story-telling image. To me, the out-of-focus subject works really well and adds to the impact of the shot. His face shows pure concentration and I had no idea the snake was fake in part, due to the way he is looking at the snake. To my eye, the slight shadow behind the subject adds depth to the image. You might want to try a version with a slightly darker shadow to see how that looks. Regardless, very nice storytelling image! |

Hi Robert - It's fun when I see a photo and the first word that comes to mind is "wow". The mountain peak against that sky is spectacular. Also, I like how the bright white area in the top left forms a great diagonal line right to the mountaintop and down the other side. To my eye, the foreground seems a bit bright and may draw viewers' eyes away from the subject. You might consider a version slightly darkening the foreground. Great capture! |
