Hi Douglas and welcome to the group. I think this image is a great story-telling shot. I like your use of depth of field to isolate the subject. I'll echo Barbara's comment about the post in front being in focus. I don't know that the background needs to be less bright. I think the contrast between the poles and the background, helps the subject stand out. Nice capture! |

Hi Barbara and thanks for the comments. I know I could have gotten down to where I really wanted to be to take the shot, but getting back up looked a little "iffy"! |

Hi Barbara - I love the story about time, the image tells. You can just feel the long line of shrubbery slowly taking over the mill. I like the point of view you have on the shot as we get to see the building from a ground perspective. Great processing on the black and white. I don't have any suggestions - well done! |

Hi Al - What a scene to come across! Not only do you have a baby with the adults but you also caught them in their dust bath, which for me, adds to the impact of the photo. I like your decision and execution of removing the elephant that was only partially in the original. To my eye, some of the blacks on the elephants could be masked and the exposure brought up a little to show more detail in those areas. Also, you might consider removing the tops of the trees/bushes right above the ears of the elephant on the right and elephant on the left. Nice storytelling capture! |

Hi Kirsti - I love this image! You were so creative in so many way to put this together. For me, the mottled effect you constructed, adds to the impact and feel of the scene. I really don't have anything suggestions. Great shot! |

Hi Robert - I saw jellyfish recently and took photos but nothing that came out as good as this! For me this is a storytelling image as I look at all those tentacles and wonder if these creatures ever get tangled together. I do prefer the original in this instance. Specifically, I like that more of the detail of the tentacles can be seen in the original and to my eye, those add a great deal to the photo's impact. Perhaps, using a linear gradient to lighten the top half of the image a bit in the B&W would let those details show through. Regardless, what a great capture! |
