Thanks for the comments Rob I've really been fortunate to travel a bit over the past 6 months and end up in some really photogenic places. |

Thanks for the comments Barbara. I'll be working on a revised version of this image to try a bit darker lighthouse, cloning out the hot spots in the sky, and a couple of other tweaks to see if I can clean this up a bit! |

Thanks for the comments Al. I'll try to clone over those bright spots as you suggested. |

Thanks for the comments Kirsti and good suggestion about cloning to cover the bright spot in the foreground. Also, I'll have to try a version without brightening the lighthouse to see if I like it better. |

Hi Kirsti - What a great idea to try a new technique to turn a static subject into more of a dynamic image to get the mood you were after! However, to my eye, the bright circle/octagon really overpowers the image and diminishes the impact of the shot. Regardless, you are to be commended for your out-of-the box thinking to create an image where few would see the potential! |

Hi Ed - You've certainly captured the decisive moment as the tatami mat hangs in mid-air! I don't have much to add to the comments that have been made about the separation of the subject from the background. I think Kirsti's solution is a good one as it effectively isolates the subject and enhances the impact of the shot. (I've used Lightroom's background blur feature a few times and sometimes it works well.) |

Hi Robert - Nice capture of this winter scene! I think you've done a good job with the technical side of the photo, particularly in terms of the exposure and sharpness. I understand your dilemma of cropping. There's a lot to look at in this scene, but from my perspective, the most interesting and impactful part of the image is the Amish buggy. Cropping from the top might be something to consider, to help increase the presence of the buggy. To me, just featuring the buggy and the empty field in front have the potential for an even more impactful image. |
