Hi Kirsti - To me, the black and white conversion makes the image have an air of mystery about it. I wonder what's hidden in the darkest areas. I thought your pre-conversion image conveyed more sadness. It seems that image showing all the details of age, wear and tear, and holes where objects used to hang feels sad to me. That said, the "mystery" element of the black and white certainly ties to the untold stories side of the equation you referred to in your write-up. |

Hi Albert - I love the composition of this image. The subject is prominent and the background details, give a perspective of where they are. However, what I really like about the shot is the expression you've captured on the subject's face. I think that expression alone makes the shot a great storytelling image. The viewer may have no idea what the subject is looking at that generated that expression nor do we viewers know exactly what that expression means. Regardless, it makes us look around the image and make up our own story. If I were to make any suggestions for your consideration it might be to try to introduce a little more contrast into the shot. However, the image works great as is. Very nice! |

Hi Robert - I think you've done an excellent job pulling the bridge out of the sky. That must have been difficult. I love all the contrast in this shot. One small suggestion for your consideration would be to slightly reduce the highlights/exposure where the city is. Nice capture! |
