My favorite part of this image is the bright, sparkly water and the resulting contrast with the silhouetted parts of the boats. The two boats also provide a story telling element to the shot. I did notice some noise in the sky. I can appreciate the dilemma of including or excluding the clouds at the top but I would lean towards cropping the very top level of clouds out. |

Hello Trung - What a fantastic image you've captured. The fact that the bird has just caught a fish makes this a special shot but then the detail and luminance in the wing on the right make the photo even more compelling. Congratulations! |

Hi Kirsti - I really like the finished product. I think the high key works well and I don't think, the image looks flat. The subject of the photo is very apparent. I think extending the border on the right side was a good idea too. To me, this is a great story telling image and I can't come up with any suggestions. |

Hi Ed - To my eye, the change did improve the presence of the subject and I believe it separates from the background/sky more than before. Nice! |

Thanks much for the comments Ed. I was pleased with the outcome of this for just the reasons you cited of reducing the clutter and lack of emphasis on the original. |

Hi Ed - I love images that communicate impermanence and your subject certainly does just that. If I were to suggest anything to try with this image, it would be to increase the contrast on the subject to make it pop out of the background more. Another idea to try might be to darken the portion of the other building showing on the left side of the image just a bit so the main subject is differentiated even more. Finally, a vignette might work in this shot. Anyway, all in all, a good capture and communication of the passage of time! |
