Thanks for the comments and edit Robert. I just completed a PSA class and part of the curriculum included the Golden Spiral as a compositional technique. It never occurred to me I had an image right under my nose that (inadvertently) used that technique. We also learned about flipping images horizontally to see if that might improve the image (and why that might help) and you've used that technique effectively in the edit you provided. Also, the fogginess was due to a combination of rising stream and a snowstorm. Thanks! |

Thanks for the comments Kirsti. The foggy appearance was a combination of mist from the river and a snow storm. It was really winter in Yellowstone that day. |

Hi Al - You've captured a beautiful mountain scene with this shot. As I view this, I wonder what's on either side of the photo's borders! I think the image would benefit from some greater contrast. The bright areas of the image (the snow in sunlight) seem a little less white and more gray than in the original. |

Hi Trung - This is a great story-telling image as we all interpret the scene and the expression on her face. About the only idea I had for something else to try might be a bit of a reverse vignette. Regardless, the image is great as is! |

Hi Kirsti - What a great story and capture. If I were to make any suggestions of changes to try, I would consider slightly increasing the exposure on the sides. I know you wouldn't want to take away from the main ladder but I think that might add some interesting context. Just an idea... |

Hi Ed - This is a great story-telling image. I remember hearing a speaker not long ago saying he believed story-telling strength was greatly enhanced when subjects weren't looking at the camera. That is certainly the case in the instance. There is a lot going on in the image and one idea of something to try would be to reduce the exposure of the background (and the poster of the guy next to the beggar, so viewers' eyes weren't pulled away. Great capture! |

Hi Robert - Well seen! I've not see that effect before and it makes for an interesting image. It might be interesting to reduce the exposure of the grass just a bit to bring even more attention to the fence patterns. Other than that, I don't have any suggestions. Great shot. |
