47 Jun 23 Comment Hi Ed - Nice shot of a very interesting place. I think this image works well in black & white. You've caught a great moment of interest with the hide door help open and the lady peering in. I also like the onlooker. For me, either your original or Kirsti's crop work. I might be tempted to darken the white wall behind the steps a little and maybe even lighten (a little) the guide and the person peering in the hole. Congrats on a great capture at just the right moment! Jun 15th
47 Jun 23 Comment Great composition! The framing of the bench with the trees keeps the viewers eyes where you want them. Contrast comes from both the silhouetted bench and trees against the lighter background; and, from the simplicity of the subject compared to the tangle of branches behind. Finally, the fascinating shape of the tree on the right suggests it could be another image by itself! Jun 15th

47 Jun 23 Reply Hi Robert - Thanks for the comments. yes he branches are part of the foreground trees but they do look as though they might not be. Jun 11th
47 Jun 23 Comment I like that this photo is ABOUT the tree, not OF the tree. By the photographer getting in closer we get a good look at the intricacies of the trunk, which holds your eye for quite some time as you examine the detail. I like how the composition sets up the bottom roots to lead your eye up into the rest of the trunk. I did notice some small artificial circles in the sky above the trees in the background just to the right of the trunk. Maybe those could be removed. Jun 10th
47 Jun 23 Comment What a well-seen scene! I saw something different that the blades of the windmill wiping the sky clean. I thought it looked like someone plucked the whole windmill from the sky and planted it on the ground. Either way, it's a scene that makes you stop and look. Since you indicated you were not getting the image where you wanted it, I tried a version using Tone Curve adjustments in the sky to brighten the clouds a bit. Then I added a generous vignette. I liked the version but don't know if it would be the look you were missing. Regardless, I think you've made a unique image that took a good eye to see. Jun 10th
47 Jun 23 Comment I really like the way this image has been composed. Putting the painter directly in the corner allows the focus of the image to be the painter, his painting, and the structure he's painting with no distractions to the left. With that said, one minor suggestion would be to reduce the highlights on the smaller building on the right just beneath the tree limbs to help keep the viewer's eye on the line between painter-painting-building. Great shot! Jun 10th
47 Jun 23 Comment Congratulations on a great photo! I love all the action captured in this shot: from the cowboy taking down the steer, to the stirrups on the saddle of the horse flying in the air to the dirt clods and dust at the feet of all. The depth of field is just right with focus on the primary subjects and the background blurred but still providing a sense of place. If I were to try something with this photo I would darken the background as much as I could get away with, particularly the lighter colored trailer, while keeping the realistic look. I tried a very quick edit on my own and the main subjects did pop out even more than they already do. That said, this is a wonderful shot with no changes! Jun 10th
