Hi Pat, As I'm not familiar with the procreate app I really can't comment much about the still life image you've created. But, you have really piqued my interest after looking at the photo and the result you achieved using it. Looks like a good start and I look forward to seeing more of your work. |

Gene- I really like the angled perspective you chose and the phone handled the exposure pretty well (I wasn't surprised you needed topaz denoise because the quality does degrade in the phones in low light- as do most cameras). I do like what you included in the frame, but was wondering if you had tried shooting from a different angle to isolate the building or taken an aspect of the structure? I definitely like the cropped version without the distracting bright lights in the foreground. |

Thanks Gene. Live view worked to capture the bird in flight, but there is no separate setting for HDR for photos on the 13 (there is a setting for video HDR and I have that turned on). I called apple on this when I received the phone. Apple said that all still images are now taken in "HDR" and what we are seeing is the finished composite of several exposures (they weren't saying how many or how its done or if this applied to live view- I did ask, but they weren't sure). You can't see an original and HDR version in the camera roll on the 13 (only the"HDR" image). I agree with you and Jack that there is some loss of detail in the trees and I took the photo into photoshop and was able to bring the shadows up a bit. |

Hi Jack,
I was experimenting with live view on this shot, because birds in flight are almost impossible to capture clearly with an i-phone (I usually shoot these with my sony mirrorless and longer lenses). The camera settings for live view are on automatic (as you said), so there is no chance of controlling ISO that way. Since taking this shot, I have been experimenting with lightroom mobile, which allows you to control shutter speeds (use higher ones when needed) and leave the ISO on auto to float. You are right because I found that ISO's above 400 on the iphone start showing noticeable noise. |

Hi Jack! I like the idea of including your feet in the image. I really like the s shaped curve of the dunes leading us through the image. I think black and white was a great choice for this image. I was wondering how the image would look if you tried adding some contrast to bring out more details on the sand, so I did it and I've attached the edited image to see what you thought. I tend to go over the top with contrast sometimes, so I can easily understand if you don't like the edits I applied. |

HI Belinda- I really don't see anything wrong with the crop. I think its a great subject for a close up. I also like the angled perspective you chose. I've attached a copy of the image that I edited in topaz studio 2 (I added the vibrant grunge filter for additional texture and color). I think you could even add more texture without going overboard, but I stopped here just to give you an idea of what it might look like. I think you can do something like this with the distressed fx+ app on your phone, but I'm used to working with topaz. What do you think? Maybe, a little over the top? |

Kieu-Hanh - the fall colors and light in this image are beautiful. The image is sharp throughout. I really like the way you used diagonals as leading lines (including the leaves) instead of a straight on shot of the road. The diminishing perspective takes us through the image, providing a sense of depth. Well done. |
