Hi Gordon, welcome to DD85!
Nice image. I like how you arranged the setting sun off to the right side. And good control on the exposure given that you are aiming into the sun. To my eye it feels like something more is needed -- a boat with a lone person in it, or something to fill up that foreground especially on the lower left. Also a clearer point of view about sky vs water....as shown it's about 50-50. I think I would have voted for more water and less sky. |

Assuming the green bridge is the subject it's too close to the top border of the image. And as I commented on another image this really feels more like a vertical image, not horizontal.
Unless you wanted it photo-realistic, a red car cloned into the foreground would have worked nicely :-)
The curve of the road to the right is nice.
Cropped vertically, a little more sky, and some sort of foreground object and this scene would absolutely pulled viewers into it.
Do you remember "carmageddon" when the 405 was closed for 48 hours to rebuild the Mulholland hwy bridge?! Would have been an image like this one |

Nice timing! And a good choice for a drone shot.
Others have touched on this but compositionally I see a vertical image not a horizontal. Just too much real estate on the left and right sides that isn't adding anything. Just a little more sky might have helped, too. |

I thought a horizontal image would put too much weight on the right and imbalance the image, but I will give it a try |

Great subject -- makes me want to go there. and I like the treatment you put in during post.
Compositionally this is a bit of a struggle. Subject is pretty tight and I felt like I am missing much of the setting. As Drema has already said for sure I would have been higher so the boats in the background are not so close to the subject and I would have tried moving to the left and rotating right -- shooting down the bow towards the stern -- to get a little more tension in the main subject |

Shot from this direction I would have considered putting the lighthouse on the right side of the image, not the left. Compositionally it just seems too empty on the right.
And if it could be managed moved to the right to get more side lighting. This would have added depth to the lighthouse
As Drema has pointed out it does seem just a bit over exposed |

By a funny coincidence I was there on Sunday morning. A beautiful fall morning Part of a visit to my wife's sister who lives in nearby Evanston. I told the relatives I've should have brought my drone! And flown it inside!!!
This perspective is really interesting and I liked the image a lot. Somehow it seemed a bit flat but I'm not sure what I would have done in post to adjust this.
Did you consider BnW?

I like the scene, colors, and person. Bravo for ignoring the warnings and pushing on (it wasn't my drone!)
I would have considered cropping out the triangle of the left, showing only three. I think unbalancing that way might have added more tension to the image and kept the viewers eye moving around more. |
