It is the original sky. Just isolated it in LR (have to love the Sky Selection feature -- it works astonishingly well); darkened it; shifted WB to blue and added some saturation. Probably some other things I can't remember, too. I'm not a fan of replacing skies but I would be the first to admit I do fiddle with them a lot in post to get good looks.
Much of the improvement came from just lowering the brightness |

Yes working in a RAW file makes many things possible! The files we have to submit for the Study Group are so downsized that there is not much available. :-(
Love the Trona Pinnacles! I shot the milky way arch there as well a few years ago |

Yes, for sure I could have been a little lower. I would have had to watch carefully that I did not begin to impinge the lower right line of pinnacles into the right pinnacles of the upper line. You can see that is already starting to happen. Possibly I could have lowered the drone and maneuvered so that didn't happen |

A whole new look for an often shot scene!
It feels like you could have been more to the left so the tree is sort of a foreground object on the right side of the image.
Just fyi (I was curious) I looked up drone rules over the Kenneth Hahn SRA (although CA a SRA it is administered by the City of LA). I got back a bunch of babble citing obscure ordinances but I think it's possible it is not allowed. Just hard to tell. |

Makes me really want to go to Romania! Very pretty.
I would have considered making the castle(?) more prominent perhaps by flying a little to the left and then rotating right.
Or alternatively sliding to the right and flying closer, so the castle is more prominent and not so close to the right edge |

Very nice! I like the overall balance and strong foreground, and of course the pretty blue in the water.
The rocks are very interesting so in another life maybe get closer to them. |

On the other hand this gives up a lot of the real estate on the image :-( |

My first reaction when looking at the image was to crop in from the right, making it more of a vertical. And maybe ust a little from the left to get it approximately into a 4x5 aspect ratio. Then I read your note, and it sounds like we are thinking along the same lines.
