Badlands National Park in SD. If you drive to one exit east of the park's east-most exit on I-90, this area can be reached via a dirt road south of the interstate.
I would really like to go back sometime and try this just after sunrise. There was so much to shoot in the park I used all my sunrises for places inside the park.
Good point about the background |

I would have liked one or two dominant elements for my eye to grab onto -- just seems like there are so many things in this image. The large rocks in the foreground would be an example although you would have to be lower and a little more out over the ocean. This seems a like a spot with many possibilities especially if shot at low tide around sunset.
If this is near your home I'm jealous. Because of the SMMNRA drones are not legal over the coast anywhere near my house. And further north the CA coast is completely off limits. There is an area near Ventura that I need to check out that looks like there are no restrictions. |

I really liked this spot. The window casting the small bright spot is a bonus!
To my eye it feels like it might be better with the shadows pointing into the image, not out of it. So if this was morning shoot at sunset (or vice versa) from a different orientation.
In post I would get rid of the three small structures upper right of the church, especially the red one |

Echoing Don's comment I love the detail!
Compositionally I don't think the "Toledo" tank and grass are helpful. Maybe, if you could have legally flown there, I would have come in closer and more to the right and not have the tank in the image. |

Fabulous!
In post maybe darken the sky above and just right of the closer mesa to make the sky appear more balanced? |

Compositionally I would vote for less "stuff" in the image. Maybe flown more to the right and tried to pick of a single person on the beach without all the cars, or alternatively flown left -- up slope -- and found something nice in the mountains? |

Don, thanks so much. Between watching a webinar by a very drone knowledgeable person and just observing that my drone images -- vs those shot on my R6 -- are noticeably more noisy and difficult to clean in post I've been making it a point to use the brightest possible exposures(s). The exposure I used was the brightest that did not have any pixels against the left side of the histogram. |
