41 Feb 23 Comment Brian, I believe that you've achieve your objective with this abstract image in so far as it keeps the viewer there to make up their own mind on what it may be. Most abstract images are like that, challenging and open ended. I do agree with Hazel that the left is an empty space. It takes half of the image and cropping one third of the left side would still leave enough "empty space" and meet your view that the space acts as a leader for the viewer to the more detail part of the image. Great imagination with the front bumper. Feb 23rd
41 Feb 23 Comment Hi Tom, this image has wonderful possibilities. If it's ok, my idea would be: Take a picture of yourself with your hat on and with different emotions and maybe slightly facing towards the woman. Place yourself in a picture frame, maybe tilted the frame as the room is old and place the empty chair under the picture of yourself to indicate that "she missing you". Put some cracks on the wall or peeling paint to suggest that the relationship is "broken" or feeling a sense of loss. Not sure about the monkey, I'm sure you can 'weave" it in somewhere. Feb 15th
41 Feb 23 Comment Hi Brad, I can relate to the feeling when my youngest son left home. A combination of water and a road can mean a renewal and the decisions on what direction one can take from here onwards. My take on your image would be to blur the road and mountains. Flip the image of you and your son scuba diving horizontally and overlay it over the road and mountain and then change the blend mode to multiply. This will show both of you moving toward the mountain on an "underwater highway". A Which in itself can be seen as the unknown as to what the future holds. I really like the concept and each has their own way of expressing their ideas. Feb 15th
41 Feb 23 Reply Thanks for your comments Tom and a good point on the skin tone.
I haven't noticed it and I see what you mean. I'll have to go back to see how I created that tone and amend it.

41 Feb 23 Reply Thanks for your feedback Brian and I take your point about the original water line acting as a leading point. That would have moved the model further back into the frame and probably create a different mood to it. The "port-wine" is her birthmark and she specifically asked me not to clone it out as she said "it's who I am" and so I honoured her request. Feb 15th

80 Feb 23 Comment Bob, the colours work very well against the smooth, green background. I always enjoy the abstract interpretations of your images. My only comment would be that I would have liked to see some more swirl of the black eye susans surrounding the zinna. There's yellow swirl on the right side but straight blur on the left. I would like to see some of the yellow curving on the left to nearly meet the curve of the zinna. This would take up some of the green "space" on the top left side. I believe that this would create more balance as a viewer. Overall just lovely. Feb 23rd

80 Feb 23 Comment Rich, I share Bob's view of your composition. I like the sharp details of the petals and the colour is just right for me. I can't add any improvements. Feb 23rd
80 Feb 23 Comment Hi Kathryn, you've done a terrific job on the dahlia. I think the chosen colours work well in all versions, after all it's the artist's way of seeing their work. I gree with Rich, the eye wanders around the image and lands on the centre point. To be honest, I can't decide on any of the versions you have posted. I like them all. Feb 23rd
80 Feb 23 Comment Hi Syed, I really like this image. Personally, I don't think you need to crop it tightly. My view is that the flowers surrounded by the lily pads add to the story and interest of the image. I see it as the "lone four." A square crop will keep the flower in the foreground and you'll still see enough of the pads surrounding them to tell the story. I agree with Doug about darkening the background. This would make the flowers stand out more. Great job spotting such a beauty. Feb 23rd
80 Feb 23 Comment Doug, love this interpretation of a calla lily. What I like about this composition is the angle of the curves. It tends to lead the view from the outer to the center of the flower. The fact that the colour is not dominant adds to the mystery. Well done.

80 Feb 23 Comment Jacob, agree with others, it's a beautiful rose and most of all what I like about is the different shades of light on it, from bright on top to various shades to the bottom. The background is a bit busy but in my view not that busy that takes the viewer away from the flower. My eye are focused on the top part of the rose and then moves down. In my view, red is not an easy colour to photograph and what I generally do is spray water on a red flower so as to get more detail. Lovely image. Feb 23rd
