Bob, I always find your abstract interpretion of a flower interesting and this is no exception. It makes you stop and look at it and wonder what it might be. Kathryn's crop eliminates the distractions and is a more focused symmetry. Look forward to seeing another. |

Hi Kathryn, well handled in separating the flower from the original busy background. I do tend to agree with Jacob, if you "flip" the canvass horizontally, you'll find that the flower doesn't appear to "float" and it looks more natural to the eye - a lovely image. |

Hi Syed, it's always interesting to read how photographers capture their images. My cornflowers are justing to come out and the approach I've taken in the past is to photograph them (hand held) at a high shutter speed about 1/500 sec plus, f8, high iso 1000 but on high continuous shoot or as some of my colleagues call "machine gun shoot". Kathryn's edit suits it well and does create some mystery of what it might be. |

Hi Doug, I like how you've kept the white outline of the petals, it stands out from the texture and being the brightest part, you tend to look at it more. I do find the background texture competing with the flower and would suggest to darken it so as to get some spearation and bring the flower out more. |

Hi Jacob, tend to agree with the comments, you've handled this beautifuly, I like how you brought out the colours of the flower and made it stand out from its background. My eye fall right on the centre piece. |

Hi Jacob, I do agree, the stem needs to be at the same consistency as the flower. Thanks for your comments. |

Hi Bob, tend to agree with you. It's a "texture" brush and I covered the whole canvas to gain a background "stroke" consistency. Then another brush is used to bring out the flower and consequently, that stroke appeared. I did have some doubts about it. It's my frist try at this style. Always happy to move forward. |

Hi Kathryn, thanks for your comments and agree with you, this is my first experiment with this style, so always looking at how to improve. In hindsight I could have kept the green background rather than change the colour and the dodging and burning would also make the flower stand out more. |
