Hi Ed,
Nice job with your shutter speed and capturing this. Given how precarious it was to capture this, I wonder, next time, if you might go a bit wider then 65mm which might given you more leeway for the leveling of the image? When looking at the original image, I really like the leaves in the front of the frame and think that might frame the image a bit more.
I agree with Paul in that the greens are a bit too oversaturated to my eye. That said, maybe putting a radial around it and darkening the ones in the foreground a bit? |

I really like your tonal range and processing on this. Looking at the clouds in the top right, it looks like it was a longer exposure, however given it was hand held, guessing not? What did you shoot this at?
I keep looking at the foreground and wonder if it's all needed and if you could have given a bit more breathing room above the top of the building? |

Hi Darcy, this image reminds me of infrared image for some reason. The processing of the leaves reminds me of that for sure. B&W processing is so hard (IMO) and I never know what way to go - do I want it as softer contrast or high contrast?
This feels like a high contrast image, with not a lot of mid-tones, perhaps finding more a balance might have worked with the club? Did they provide any feedback to you?
I like how you captured the multiple sun stars from the leaves. I also like your original and how the tree line slops down further to the right. |

Thanks Ed, appreciate it!
I never mind you editing my images a different way, always fun to see how someone else interprets a picture. The B&W would be interesting for sure and I like it, but also prefer the color. That day, the sky was so moody and had amazing layers of colors to it and that's what I wanted to try to convey. |

Hey Jay, was there a mistake on this one? I think this is your December image? |

Wow! Really great image!
Love the DOF on this, great job with the stacking! Guessing it wasn't very windy?
I like how you used the plants on each side to frame the mountain (volcano as I see some smoke?). Your processing is right on point for this as well to my eye, I like how the sun hits the side of the mountain, but the rest of the image is in shade/shadow providing great, even coverage. |

Hi Paul, we had some mild weather and it was probably in the 30-40s or so that day.
As for how far away I was from the base of the mountain, hmm, unsure, hard to tell with the scale and the water/icebergs in between. We had to get on a zodiac from our boat, navigate through the icebergs, then get on the land. Maybe 1/2 to 3/4s of mile? |
