93 Aug 24 Comment When I first saw this picture, I thought it was some sort of AI Image with the mountains and the blue sky with clouds, until I realized that the sky and water meet and are the same color!

The shadow of the clouds on the water is amazing and helps me discern the water from the sky.

What focal length did you take this with?

93 Aug 24 Comment Great use of shutter speed here Ed! I like the way the light is way you composed this shot.

I know Darcy mentioned she didn't' like the grass, I like it and think I'd play with it a bit and brighten it a bit. I also like how the small "waterfall" is highlighted as well as the middle of it. If this was mine, I'd try playing with it a bit to brighten the whiter parts o the water. If I get a chance, I'm going to take a crack at it and see what it might look like.

Were you on the shore? Or did you go into the water?

93 Aug 24 Comment Hi Paul, I love all your barns... :D

I like the golden grass contrasting the green with the blue sky and clouds. It Might be the monitor I'm looking at this on, but it feels a bit dark?

I see that you had a fast shutter speed, given the wind, can I assume you were trying to freeze the movement? Next time, might be worth a try to see how a longer shutter speed might look with the movement in both the grass and the clouds, but the sharp barn.

93 Aug 24 Comment Hi Jay, reading your comments and looking at the image, I understand your thought process here.
I also agree with Darcy that all of your foreground isn't needed (to my eye at least), however I do like the extra space you have on the right. I think I'd crop the bottom a bit and keep the right. This keeps the dock line from the left and also the wave line from the right side. I personally don't think you needed more sky, but that's just me.

I like how you have some details in the shadow of the mountain, but not too much.

93 Aug 24 Comment I like your processing on this Darcy, you've done a great job of bringing out the shadows and toning down "hotter" areas. Warming it up as well really works. I like how you used the rocks in the foreground moving wo the reflection in the water. I also like the two lighter (think dryer?) patches of rocks on each side balance each other. Aug 19th
93 Aug 24 Comment I like the balance of your leading lines -- first the rocks, then the worn path, then the green grass at different lengths bringing you to the horizon with the lighter field that brings you to the mountain on the left. I always wonder if we as photographers just do it out of instinct, if shots are planned when you see it, or a combination of both? Nice shot Aug 19th
93 Aug 24 Reply Thanks Ed, I agree about the Pano. I have a lot of images from this morning and this certainly provides the best story. I always have to remember to not get caught up in my single frame shot and think about a Pano. I have a few from this trip that I still need to process. Aug 19th
93 Aug 24 Reply Thanks Neil. The clouds kept giving that morning. A few minutes after this, there were clouds that looked like an angel, might be a better black and white for that one. Aug 19th
93 Aug 24 Reply Thank you Paul, appreciate the kind words! Aug 19th
