Neil, I think your settings were spot on for this image, knowing how windy it can be/is up there! Was this hand held? Or did you do a tripod? Did you try any with longer exposures to eliminate the cars and smooth the fog?
I agree with the others, while this is a nice shot, I keep looking at this wanting to see the top of the bridge as well as a bit more of the right side of the bridge with more of the slope going down to the right.
I think you've done a good job processing the image. |

Who knew there was a replica in the states!
I like how you processed the stones, the detail is evident. However I think there are parts of the sky that look blown out, especially when you look at the original. This might benefit from either selecting the sky in LR and processing, or bringing it over to PS and processing the image as two layers, one for the foreground and one for the sky and blending the two together. |

I always find it hard to shoot images like this, never being able to capture it the way I see it. It. Feels like you were able to do that, nice job!
I like the details and colors of this shot. To me, the stems are a bit distracting. If you were to perhaps darken them a bit, I think the leaves would pop a bit more. |

Mark, I really like the depth of this that was created by the angle as well as your conversion to B&W and processing. I like your close up crop and can also see a different image/feel to this if you were to crop just the bottom off, which is what I might have started with if it were my shot. I agree with Ed in that your images do show the sheer force of nature. |

Hi Darcy, I agree with Ed, it feels like it's a bit soft focus wise. Given how close you were and looking down on the stream, I think you could have benefited with a higher ISO and smaller f-stop.
I like the composition, yet I am wanting to see more on the top of the footbridge for a bit more balance. |

I agree with the other comments, it's a compelling image, yet I feel like I'm intruding on this woman and her dire circumstances. You have done a nice job of capturing the scene. |

Thanks Neil! We hiked a bit to get to this location, in addition to it being a less visited spot given the drive to get there and were lucky on the footprints!
As for the scale, yes, this was huge.

Hi Paul, this was with a tripod! I use Lumenzia for my masks. I keep practicing with them and am continually learning more ways to use them. For this image, i did them for both the lights and shadows to focus on the colors and details. For instance, I wanted the light side to make it warmer and cooled the shadows.
As for the actor of this, to me, it's the simplicity, lines and how my eyes move through the frame. I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks! This could just be a shot for me personally. Was a long walk to get there and then to hike up the dunes, so definitely a personal image for me. |
