93 Aug 22 Reply Thanks Darcy! I wished I lived closer to it to be able to head there whenever I wanted! The variety of items to shoot there is incredible. Aug 14th
93 Aug 22 Comment I like the framing and how there is new growth coming from "death" captured here. The different hues of green juxtaposed with the intricacies of the root system are a great contrast. For some reason, it reminds me of a heart and life itself. It not only makes me sad that the tree has fallen, but gives hope for the new life it feeds. Aug 14th
93 Aug 22 Comment Totally agree, B&W was the way to go here! I like how the cloud layers mimic the waves a bit. I real like the three breaking waves. I wish I saw a tad more of the foreground in front of the first wave, it feels like it would make it a stronger image then it already is. Think your shutter speed was the right choice to stop the action and capture the break and birds. Aug 14th
93 Aug 22 Comment Great capture of everyday life making pasta! There are many elements that help drive the story - where her hands are, the large sheet of pasta going through to make what looks like pappardelle, the pile of pasta next to it, and the machine and scale. I keep looking all over the image, find new things in it, and then go back to the pasta maker herself. I think you did a great job with the light you had. Aug 14th
93 Aug 22 Comment Mark, I really like how you composed this - the road moving into the frame from the left side, leading into the cliffs that are layered. The balance of the foreground to the cliffs to the sky are so soft and lovely Aug 13th
93 Aug 22 Comment Darcy, I like your crop on this as for my eye, it makes it seem more imposing in the frame. I also like how the trees frame the mountain. Hard to do, but I feel you've captured an imposing, yet simple composition. Aug 13th
93 Aug 22 Reply Thanks Neil and thanks for the recommendation for Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, will have to check it out next time I'm in the area. Aug 9th

Thanks for the steps and would LOVE for you to send the PSD file if you could. I'm a visual learner, so would be helpful to dive into what you did step by step. Thanks Mark!

93 Aug 22 Reply Thanks Mark, I agree, nighttime images are quite fun and you can process in many different ways. I do like how you've made the stars pop a bit more. The challenge with this one was an almost full moon making the stars a bit dimmer. How did you process it to get them just that bit brighter? Thanks! Aug 8th
93 Aug 22 Reply Nice! Joshua Tree National Park is in Southern CA, about an hour from Palm Springs. Aug 5th
93 Aug 22 Reply Thanks Paul! We did a few with light painting, one a car quickly drove by and lit it up, and the moon was also a source of light. I can't remember if this was painting or the car. Pretty sure it was painted quickly with a simple flashlight. Aug 4th
