Thanks Mark! I'll take a look at removing the rock and tree before I print this one. I honestly hadn't noticed them until you mentioned them! I shot it at f/13. |

Hi Neil, I agree with Paul, the moon, and where you framed it, makes the images in my opinion. You look at this and know it's the Southwest! |

Hi Ed, I like the composition with the hill on the left, rolling to the right with the mountain behinds it following the same lines, and the shadows from the trees. I'd consider cropping this to 16x9 as the sky isn't adding to the image (why can't we always have great clouds?). I like your use of the longer focal length that brought the mountains a bit closer while framing the hill and valley.
I hope you don't mind, but I downloaded it and made a few quick adjustments to play a bit. I added a tiny bit of saturation in the sky and then added a bit of contrast by increasing the black and whites, adjusted both shadow and highlights. I also cropped it to 16x9 as well. |

Such a reminder of the power of photography and documenting history. The growth of the greenery among the shattered abandoned buildings shows that the life goes on, however the impact of war remains. |

Thanks Neil it's worth it once you get there!
No, it's not the raw direct from the camera as raw files are so flat. In Lightroom, I adjusted the whites, blacks to add more contrast; increased the shadows a bit and decreased the highlights. I also increased the saturation in the calibration tool. I wanted to get most of the easy adjustments completed in LR then bring it over to PS to finish it off. I adjusted it to what I remember the colors to be. The first time I added way too much magenta by adjusting the tint, this time, I left the white balance and tint as shot in the camera. |

Mark, I love the composition of this, not to mention the lighting and mood created by the sea smoke. I like how there's on spot on the island that isn't hidden by the smoke. I think you've succeed in creating a photograph highlighting the island amidst the ocean environment. |

Darcy, I like how you made the rocks a bit "colder". In the original, I get stuck at the top of the tunnel, however in your edited view, I'm drawn to back of the tunnel and keep looking at the entire image -- nice job! I agree with Paul about the foreground, if you to crop that large shadow that goes across the road, it draws me further into the image. |

Thanks Paul! I shot this with a Nikon Z7 with the Z 24-70 f/4.0 lens at 32.5mm at ISO 100, 2.5 seconds at f/13. It was one shot -- I was up above the foreground as it sloped down quite a bit, so I was far enough away to have the entire shot in focus. |
