Thanks, Mark. We were there on the new moon. The glow you're seeing are the lights of Mojave, in the distance. It was only about 60 miles away. Lancaster/Palmdale were only about 75 miles away, as the crow flies. That's become a pretty large area these days. I like your idea of making it more of a pano. |

Thank you, Leo. This was a single image. I think you're right, I could have cropped a little tighter and made more of a pano. Great thinking! |

Thanks, Bruce! I'm always torn whether I should take the streaks out or leave them in. I kind of like them too! It's sure not as dark as it used to be....Good luck with your search. |

Thanks, Harley. I honestly don't know if the streaks were satellites, shooting stars, or what. Perhaps a combination? I don't think I saw them when we were out there, but they came out in post. |

Thank you so much! I wish I could take credit for having the sun in there, but I think that's the lights of Mojave in the distance. This was taken well after dark. Unfortunately, this wasn't in complete dark-sky territory, so there was a little bit of a blue cast to the scene.

This bird is fantastic, Bruce. The colors, exposure, and use of depth of field all work very well together. The choice of colors is perfect for July, and you made great use of bokeh in the background to set the subject apart. Very well done. |

This is a great image, Harley. I agree with you closing the distance. That would have never occurred to me, but it makes a world of difference. Excellent choice on using monochrome. The colors were muted, but the black and white conversion adds depth and texture to the frame. |

I really like the idea of this scene. I wish there was more density in the shadows behind the boat, but I love the colors and textures of the boat. It really makes you wonder about the adventures the boat has seen. Nice work, Mark! |

As a native Californian, the subject matter certainly caught my eye. The colors and texture are well handled in the flowers. Part of me likes the simplicity of the background, but part of me agrees with Harley that it seems out of place. Interesting composition, Lane. |

I love how you handled this, Bunny. The colors really pop, and the image is tack-sharp. The water droplets and parts of the flower are really well rendered. The soft colors work together and give this image a lot of impact. |

I'm a big fan of street photography, and I like how this image has captured the entirety of the scene. The clarity throughout the image really gives a sense of the scene. I live the detail and how well lit everything is. The tracks are a very strong leading line, bringing my eyes to the train, as is the shape of the building in the center of the frame. Very well done, Leo! |
