Thank you so much, Leo. I think Linda is correct on this being the wrong time of day. The difference between the highlights and shadows was quite extreme. I really appreciate your observations and thoughts. |

I think you're 100% on the money, Mark. The changes really help to emphasize the story that caught my eye. We'll have to go back next year! <grin> |

Hi, Linda. I think you're right. I may have gotten so caught up in the story that I didn't consider other angles and how the light would change. I also like your crop here. I sometimes have trouble cropping this aggressively on my own, but really like the outcome when someone else does it. Good thinking! I appreciate your input. |

I think you're right, Lane. It was a really nice choice. I like it more, the more I look at it. |

Hey, Bruce. I won't lie. I liked trying to keep some of the background to help tell the story. However, the way you've plaecd this vignette, I'm really rethinking how best to handle this scene. You've managed to maintain just enough of the environment and really helped the subjects pop, without being too boisterous. Nice choice. I appreciate you giving me more to think about here. |

Really nice job here, Bruce, I think black and white/Silver Effect was a wonderful choice for this image. Given your description of the conditions, I think you worked through the challenges and came away with a fantastic rendition. The noise from the higher ISO adds character to an already fascinating scene. The feathers on the bird have textures and a range of tones that capture the viewer's attention, and you've got just enough detail in the background to add context and interest to the scene, without being too busy, or a featureless void. The eyes are tack-sharp, and really help me connect with the subject. I suspect the color version would also be gorgeous, but I'm 100% with you on your choice of format. Wonderful work! |

I really like the choices you've made here, Harley. The wider scene is very peaceful and serene, but the crop, then treatment you gave your final image give the scene a completely different feeling. What's funny is, it's still very peaceful, but is telling a different story. I love the texture of the side of the barn and the roof. The reflections in the windows seems to give the image a luminance of its own. There's just enough detail in the shadows inside the barn to make me wonder what's inside, and the open doors are inviting me to wonder. Great job in your decisions here. Leaving the negative space around the building would have been distracting. The closer crop really gives an intimacy to the scene. Well done! |

Mark, you've captured this city in a way that I'm compelled to visit. I would argue this is the goal of any travel image. There are so many aspects of the city here, as I move my gaze through the frame, I see another element that builds more interest. The colors are wonderful, the crispness carries through the image, and the quality of light really accentuates the textures of the natural features, as well as the man-made elements. This is a very involved image that is not distractingly busy. It gives the viewer a lot to look at, but is not overwhelming. Wonderful work! |

I really like the scene you've captured here, Lane. The time of day was perfect, and you made sure you were there to capture it. From the leading line of the fence, to the birds in a position to balance the composition. The way the light strikes the fence, and even how the viewer cans ee through the building to see the light coming through from the windows on the far side is wonderful. If I would change anything, I'd either crop the left side of the image, or clone in the fence rail. The break in the fence line is a little distracting. Other than that, this is a great scene. You've included detail throughout the scene, from the sky to the waves in the water, and the texture in the grass. Wonderful work! |

You've rendered this scene very well, Linda. The colors jump off of the screen. The texture you've added almost makes it look like a painting. Looking at what you've started with, you put a lot of work into this image, and it shows. The closest thing I have to a suggestion is to remove the straight line at the lower center of the frame, just to the right of the center blossom. Other than that, I really like how the texture follows through to the leaves, but the blooms are crisp. Great use of textures and clarity in the same image. |

I really enjoyed this image, Leo. The way the colors work together is wonderful. The muted tones of the foreground transition to the red in the sky, with the light on the bridge acting as a transition is great. The leading lines of the lanes of the highway bring the viewer's eyes into the image. It's sharp throughout, and the cluster of buildings within the frame adds depth and interest. I think you captured this scene well, recorded it thoughtfully, and have been rewarded with a great image. Nice work. |
