43 Dec 21 Reply Wow! That's very cool, Lane. That's a lot to consider. I appreciate the ideas! Dec 31st
43 Dec 21 Reply Hi, Lane. Thanks for the welcome and your honest thoughts. I came here to get input on my work, and appreciate you being the odd man. The sky isn't that far off. I played with dehaze a little to get some overall improvement in the image, and that darkened the sky some, but not a ton. A far as the mountain to the left, the ridge just continues down the canyon towards the valley floor, I didn't cut off any peaks or anything.
There are lots of moving pieces to an image. I appreciate hearing input on whatever catches people's eyes. Looking forward to the next round!

43 Dec 21 Comment There are so many things about this image that I like. The back lighting creates almost an aura around the subjects, and also helps them stand out from the darker trees behind. I also like the warmer tones created in the shadow. You caught a wonderful expression on the woman as well as the dog. The people in the background are in focus enough to give a good sense of place and what's going on, but they're just out of focus enough that they're not overpowering to the main story you've captured. The leading lines of the path are very effective. I really like the mood you've created here, and admire how you did it. I hope you know the woman, so you could give her a copy of this image. I'm sure she'd love it. Dec 19th
43 Dec 21 Reply Thank you very much, Harley. The trees were far enough away that I could focus on them and let the depth of field pick up everything else. I could have come up on the ISO to allow a higher shutter speed, but I wanted to keep the ISO lower for the best quality I could get here. I'm kind of with you on the horizon near the center of the frame. I was going for the symmetry, but I've cropped it with the rule of thirds in mind, and those came out nicely too. Dec 19th

43 Dec 21 Reply Thank you, Linda. I can already tell we'll be learning from each other. Dec 9th
43 Dec 21 Reply Thanks, Mark. I was really pleased with how this came out. This spot seems to be a target rich environment in all seasons! Dec 7th
43 Dec 21 Reply Hi, Bruce. I think you're spot on. I got some suggestions from my instructor about setting the white point of the image. I bet it will make quite a difference. I appreciate your input! Dec 7th
43 Dec 21 Reply Hi, Linda. I really like that crop! I liked the mix of the evergreen trees with the yellow. I'm really pleased at how all the colors came together here. It was a good day! Thanks for your thoughts. Dec 7th
43 Dec 21 Reply Aerial photography is an artform in and of itself. When I first saw this, I saw the people and it took a minute for me to figure out what they were. I was thinking "Hey, what's that...oh, it's a person!" That does help draw you into the frame. I like it. Dec 6th

43 Dec 21 Comment I really like the sharp focus on the bird and how the softer focus on the stones/shells in the background bring the viewer's eye back to the bird. The splash of color from the bill and feet against an otherwise muted background really adds pop to this image. Nice job in capturing the height of action with the lunch in the bird's bill. I agree with Linda, that we're missing a little detail in the feathers, but I really like this image. Dec 6th
43 Dec 21 Comment The lighting and colors in this image are gorgeous. I'm not really sure where to look, though. It's like there isn't a central theme or idea. I love the detail of the clouds in the sky, and the texture shown in the vegetation in the foreground. Excellent choice of time of day. The light and shadows are very dramatic, and the colors of the water and trees/plants is wonderful. Dec 6th
43 Dec 21 Comment I really like the execution of the idea here. The focus is sharp, exposure is spot-on, showing all the detail, including the textures. The colors of the doll against the background really jump. The way the shadow plays out on the wall behind really adds a balance to the story. The edge lighting on the doll's hair is very effective against the dark background. I'd be curious to see the camera or doll move so that the lighter wall on the right is contrast against the dark side of the doll's face and the dark part of her hair. Gorgeous image! Dec 6th
43 Dec 21 Comment I love the moment that was captured here, as well as the story that's being told. At first I thought there were spots or noise in the upper right-hand corner, then I realized it was water droplets. Great effect! I like the silhouette aspect of the subject balanced on how the light hits the net. The mood that the light and angle create is wonderful. The only change I'd be curious to see is to open up some of the shadows on the plants in front of him, but you handled a tough lighting condition very well. Dec 6th
