54 Nov 21 Reply Brad, thanks for the input. I really like the idea of putting people in the lane - great suggestion! Nov 14th
54 Nov 21 Comment Hi Brad. I must admit I had to google "Sisyphus"! This is a lovely dream like version of that story. The pencil sketch in combination with the colored observer is visually very appealing. Sometimes, when you have a colored object in an otherwise black and white scene, you can bind them together with a very light color wash (same color as the object). You might want to try a solid layer of that light blue placed on top of the whole thing with an opacity of about 10%. Just an idea.

The whole idea is very creative and imaginative!

54 Nov 21 Comment Hi Alan: I love the title! The picture itself is so well balanced and, as Peggy said, leads one to wonder what happens next. This is a lovely story telling image which really holds the viewer's attention.

Cutting out the human, whilst retaining the hoop looks to be hard and you've handled it so well.

As Maria noted, a little shading above the arch might be good.

Thanks for all the info about tone mapping.

54 Nov 21 Comment Hi Aavo. What a wonderful creative and fun idea! Have you thought of putting the humor in the title? Something like "Mother Nature puts the finishing touch on a pumpkin". Personally I'd prefer the arm better defined as others have said.

Your treatment of the colors on the half painted pumpkin is really good, and I loved the way you have created the fresh paint look.

54 Nov 21 Comment Hi Kathy. This is a great composition and I love the texture. Have you tried it without the caption in the picture? You could then put the humor in the title. Just a thought. Also the birds need to be a little lighter as others have remarked. That yellow leaf on the left side pulls the viewers eyes away from the main subject - you might want to clone it out.
I really enjoyed this picture - thank you!

54 Nov 21 Comment Hi Maria: This is wonderful! The colors and texture work together beautifully to create a peaceful pastoral scene.

The sheep, poles and outhouses are a bit distracting I think. You might want to try a simpler composition with just three main elements - truck, house and tree. But with the tree moved to separate it from the house. The birds in the sky are brilliant as Peggy said - they give life to the whole sky!

54 Nov 21 Comment Hi Peggy, your lovely picture certainly brings back happy memories of those golden falls in New England (I lived in Connecticut for 10 years). You have captured the absolute joy of the season. I wonder if the very light areas at the top and right side may pull the viewer's attention away from the joyous model? You could try painting over them with a yellow/orange brush at low opacity or adding a dark vignette. Just a thought.

The composition and wonderful use of just two colors is masterful. Well done!!
