Gorgeous action photo. I love the color combination and the snow flakes around the hummingbird really enhance the composition. |

Gerhard what a wonderful and sharp image. The eyes looking at you are very expressive and crisp. I like the red of the face as it enhances the composition. Image demonstrates also how important it is to have the right equipment to ensure a stable camera. |

Isaac, amazing image and such patience to be able to get the right shot. And I also agree that the differentiated background blur is very pleasing. |

Thanks Grace. The eyes are a challenge as they are surrounded by black!Turns out that the great kiskadee has a black mask that is sort of like what athletes smear below their eyes to reduce glare and assists them in hunting in bright light or light reflected off water. I tried but could not really make them brighter - suggestions welcome.. |

Cheryl, what a nice set of flowers and composition. I like the open one above the still closed ones. I agree that some more light on the open one would enhance the image. Also the background flowers to the right are a bit distracting to me. |

Carol, nice shot of the mantis looking straight at you. I also prefer the one you call original, the garage texture does not bother me as the insect is very sharp. Also maybe depends on audience/purpose. The original one is more natural. But for a more "artistic" purpose the textured background shifts the focus on the insect itself sort of floating in space. |

John, what a colorful happy image. I love the light that emanates from it. I really enjoyed it. And a great result with the iphone. I agree on taking out the brown background at the edges. |

Stuart, I also like the color palette and composition. I am thinking that a macro take of the details of one of the beige cones could be interesting. |

Margaret, I really like the composition and the mysterious feeling of the image. I like the softness of the stem and leaves as they emerge from darkness, but I agree on giving more light to the tip. |

Thank you Carol for the comments and the excellent suggestion to improve the shot. Sorry by original I meant what a closed flower that was next to the one I choose looks like! |
