Kathy, this is a stunning image - the colors are truly quite intense. The pinks create a very pleasing visual contrast with the intense blue of the water. Great timing in catching the action. I like your composition and your presentation of the bird. However I like the idea of eliminating the distraction in the upper right. |

Sarita, what a wonderful image. So elegant and graceful - made me think of a dancer! The composition, colors and background all fit perfectly together. |

Jerry, I had never seen a nuthatch - what an interesting pose. Great image. I agree that the lower brightness enhances the details of the bird's feathers. I like the green background. |

Thanks for the shooting suggestion - it was so hard to see him - and he would fly away as soon as he saw me! |

Hi Isaac, first apologies for late comments - complicated month health wise..
What an amazing image - indeed you were lucky to see such a display of activity by so many boobies. Your shot is really mesmerizing - lots of action and great colors. The background is also very nice. The color of the water complements the blue of the boobies.

Carol, such a great example of true 1:1 macro - would not have guessed the frog was so small! The colors are so intense, and the sharpness is amazing. I also like the way it is positioned. I agree with Stuart's suggestions on composition. |

Cheryl, very interesting and unusual subject. Love the colors and texture. I agree that the shadows take away some from the crispness of the image. Only suggestions would be to crop a bit from left side, also I wonder if a lighter background with less texture would work even better than the gray one you have now to enhance the main subject. |

Wow John such a beautiful macro image. I love the color combination and the water drops add to the beauty of the detail. The leading lines are perfect going towards the center. An inspiration... |

Pat, I really like this image. I like when macro images become almost abstract and you have to guess what the subject is. The soft background is very fitting a others commented. The colors and textures are very nice. I would maybe crop a bit the right upper corner. |

Thanks for this image Stuart, lots to learn from it and from the comments! The butterfly and flower colors are very beautiful. I agree on softness - it is so hard to get the whole body in focus. I wonder if with a 200/300 zoom lens you could get a better result and get closer to a macro shot. |

Hi Keith, I also like the original better, maybe cropping it - to show only the one leaf with the drop. I think you loose too much detail with the close up of the drop. Or you could retake it with a macro lens focusing specifically only on the drop. |

Margaret, exquisite shot. Not much to add - great texture and colors. And I also would like to see closer crop. |

Actually I just figured it out in my macro lens - the setting just shows up in manual focus. The good news is the lens can go up to 1:4. Thank you again. |

Thanks Carol, that would be my idea. Maybe for this one macro does not work…
Actually to make sure I am indeed taking macro images, I have been trying to figure out how do turn my 100 mm macro lens to 1:1 to make sure is true macro. Have not figured it out yet. |

Thanks Stuart, I'll work on it. The one I had thought originally does not really work - too monochromatic. Maybe I need some of the blue of the ocean..

Thanks. Yes I have presented 2 close ups of shells in earlier rounds. I had thought of this one as a broader macro to give the context. But does not seems to works as is.. |
