Carol, this is a beautiful image. The colors and details of the butterfly are really gorgeous. I also like very much that the flower on which it stands is sharp, but the rest are blurred. It makes for a very pleasing composition. I am amazed that you could get this sharpness handheld, as you say maybe the flash helped. It is a good tip to try. |

Hi Keith, I really like this image. Very interesting specimen. I would crop even closer to bring out the details. The most interesting part to me are the details of the center of the cone. I am still learning focus stacking but if it could help with softness in foreground would make it even better. |

Hi Pat, great improvements with focus stacking. You inspire me to try it again. Maybe next time you could get closer to give more of the details of the texture. |

Hi Stuart, I agree with Carol. I really like the colors and the details of the leaf. The insect parts in focus are really pleasing to the eye. If you could have it looking towards you/us would be even better.
(PS, re your estimated camera magnification. I wish one could have the data of camera magnification - I have not figure out how to do it. Mine gets up to 1.4x but I never know ex post which were the photos I took with the grater magnification) |

Hi Viren, this is an impressive image. I remember how I felt when I saw in person the skyline of Dubai the first time - I felt in awe and as if I had been catapulted into the future. I see your point on the lack of contrast - getting the different textures and shades in B&W is really challenging. How did you pick B&W versus color? I wonder if color version would give more texture and also bring in the sky. But I also understand that B&W focuses the mind on the main focus rather than details.

Hi Bob, I like the image and it speaks to me. My eyes actually follow the flower trail towards the white of the snow in the mountains. So to me it is the white that is the trail, at least visually, towards the sun lit part. Once again the comments show how images are so personal and reflect what each of us sees in it - to me it is pleasing as is. I like the breath of it as it allow to see the magnificence of the whole scene. The flowers look fine to me as my eyes go to the overall image rather than specific details. |

Hi Haru, it is a beautiful image and very successful. I love the subtlety of the colors and the feeling of the white of the snow slowly taking thing over. You make me feel the change in seasons as it is happening. This image has movement and beauty.
On your specific questions:
1. What is the center of attention to you? the parts with the changing colors
2. What do you feel watching the image? movement - but in a very calm, slow and pleasing way
3. Do you think it is "busy"? No, I think that the image is just right to see what is already white and what is still being covered
4. Any idea to make it better? Maybe open the crop? As Stephen mentions I am curious to see if you have a broader image of the scene. |

Thank you Haru, yes I was lucky to have the camera close by... I will follow your suggestion on cropping the sky. |
