95 Apr 23 Reply Thank you Tom! Good lesson for next shot. Apr 25th
95 Apr 23 Comment Hi Carol, beautiful image. I really like the balance of the image - with very crisp center and then softer focus as you move towards the outside. The eye goes naturally to the center. The colors are remarkable. Very impressive. Lots to learn from you... Apr 17th
95 Apr 23 Comment Hi Keith, Scary bug. I think the sharpness is pretty amazing and the white background works really well. The texture and design of the wings is really nice. I would like to see more of the head/front. Apr 17th
95 Apr 23 Comment Hi Tom, amazing you got the shot - my dogs would never be still enough! The texture is amazing. I am not sure about the lower part and the right side as it looks very grainy. Also I wonder if a lighter colored background as in the top part would have worked better. Apr 17th
95 Apr 23 Comment Hi Pat, I really like the composition, the colors, and the texture of the veins of the leaves. I wish the water drops were crisper, clearer tor recognize as drops - as is I also misunderstood what they were at first sight. Apr 17th
95 Apr 23 Comment Hi Stuart, Wow what an image - and I also like the cropped version best. Such a beautiful combination of colors. The sharpness and texture of the bee are wonderful. Apr 17th
95 Apr 23 Reply Hi thanks, yes I am finding diagonal to work well with macro. From the front I cannot manage to get a much overall sharpness particularly with long objects/bugs. Apr 17th
95 Apr 23 Reply Hi Carol, thanks - yes I will try to blur the background a bit. Apr 17th
95 Apr 23 Reply Hi Stuart, still learning how to use all the capabilities of the R5! thanks for the tips - I will apply them. Apr 17th
95 Apr 23 Comment Hi Fran, Nice image!I also really like the texture. I know now how hard it is to get all of a bug in focus - would be interesting to know if you used tripod or was handheld. I also found the bright purple in the back a bit distracting. Maybe you can crop a bit more the green/purple at the top and right. Apr 17th

96 Apr 23 Comment Hi Robert, Thank you! i am going back to Rome next week and I'll go back and try to take more pictures focusing on statues. Apr 23rd
96 Apr 23 Reply Thanks Cheryl - very useful comments. Apr 17th
96 Apr 23 Reply Thank you Bob Apr 16th
96 Apr 23 Comment Hi Haru, thank you for your comments - yes I love running there. Yes, I thought of cutting the sky - but then I did not know what to do with the leg because I did want to show the bended knee! I'll try to retake it in a position where I get the leg and less sky. Apr 11th
96 Apr 23 Reply Thanks Dan for your suggestions. I will go back to that spot in the next few months and will try the wider aperture. I'll try cloning out bright lights and see how it looks. Apr 11th
96 Apr 23 Comment Hi Bob, I also find the green hues and soft tones very pleasing. And I agree that it is your description of the "serene valley and hills beyond" that leads to comments on needing to see more of that. I can imagine that a vertical crop with the focus on the cross instead would make it a more focused image. Also - that could remove the parts of the other crosses on the bottom left side that distract the eye a bit. Apr 11th
96 Apr 23 Comment Hi Cheryl, wow what a moon - I am aways struggling with shots that have a bright moon and the exposure of the whole. This is a great idea - I need to learn to do composites now. If I look at this image I almost see a painting - and it that context I like the brightness of the moon and the way it combines with the bright center of the bale of hay. I like a lot your cropping as it places the roundness of the moon and the bale of hay in a composition that is pleasing to my eye. Apr 11th
96 Apr 23 Comment Hi Dan, I immediately thought of a scary movie. You definitely caught the mood of a potential murder scene.. and I got the sense the crows would appear any minute. So I guess you achieved your goal. I wonder about the bright light top center - my eye goes there and feels very bright. You have the other bright spot below that one - and one could think it is the moon maybe. Maybe both bright lights are a bit too much. But..if it pleases you as is, that also works. Thanks for your creativity which is an inspiration. Apr 11th
96 Apr 23 Comment Hi Robert, to me the highlight of this image is the reflection - that makes it interesting. I like the broad color palette of the shades of green. I really like what Haru did - as it definitely focuses the eye more on the mountain and its reflection. And I agree with Dan that the sky needs a bit more warmth. It is always a challenge to do something extraordinary or unique with landscapes that have been photographed so often. Apr 11th
96 Apr 23 Comment Hi Haru, I really like the mood of the picture and I do not think it is busy. I wish the snow flower was crisper and the icicles more blurred. Maybe next time using f9 or even f5.6? Also, you could place the flower more to either side rather than the center of the composition. And maybe cut a bit of the upper part of the branch so the eye goes more towards the flower. Apr 11th
