I also like the detail of the wrinkles and the texture of the skin. I agree that one notices the fact that the eyebrow and the skin at the right of the eye are not as sharp. I wonder if using a tripod would have helped the sharpness. |

Hi Keith, very nice image. I find it very challenging to get all of a flower in focus! And I agree that in the end it is a matter of personal preference to keep petals more blurry or try full sharpness. I really like the darker background than the one in the original, brings out the bright colors very nicely. |

Hi Tom, I really like the subject. I agree that the green background distracts from the subject. I am also wondering about the small f/45 aperture - is that correct? i am new to macro but thought usually it tends to be more open. |

Thank you Carol! I will retry with more of the flower and some water drops. I will have to learn how to add texture.. |

Hi Carol, I am very impressed by this photo - it is beautiful, even if not completely sharp if one gets closer. So to me it is a lesson in focusing on the composition and the whole and not necessarily seeking perfection in all angles. In this case the ethereal look really works for me, maybe also because the petals are white.
P.S. And thanks for the heads up on the class. |

Hi Stuart, the frost all around is quite impressive, seems almost abstract with the glowing pink. You can almost feel the texture and I really like the different shapes of the frost. |

Thank you Stuart, yes! Next time some drops of water will enhance flower photo I agree. Also thanks for solving the mystery, I was wondering what I was doing wrong that I could never fit larger flowers in macro shot… |

Hi Bob, I have to say I also prefer the color shot. The sun reflected on the right side is beautiful. The scenery is magnificent and I like the different shades of copper/browns. It is a great image of the Canyon either way. |

I also like this shot; I am drawn by the colors and by the reflections on the water. Not much to add - a great example of a city scape at night. Inspires me to take more pictures of the Miami skyline! |

Hi Dan, definitely a compelling image. Made me think of a car that could come alive like in an animation movie!yes, probably a spooky animation movie. I like the what you did with the rusted colors in the car and the stormy sky. I wonder whether the tree branches really add that much, maybe worth trying just the car and the sky. |

Hi Kate, as others mentioned I also liked very much the storytelling underlying this image. You caught that magnificently. I feel for you on the challenge of getting a great story in an image where the colors are grey and flat… maybe adding sharpness and removing the muck might help. Or maybe not, but still this is a nice image and I enjoyed it as is. |

Thanks Bob, the colors are more golden. I'll try cutting off the branches on the left and keeping the 4 palm trees. |

Thank you Dan, glad it spoke to you.
yes it is about the emotion!
I also love the tropics - the colors and the moods
are so intense. And I am still learning about the R5!
I have also been wondering whether to
take out the leaves in the far left. |
