Hi Stuart, I liked the image and its positioning with the green background. Cannot comment yet.. on the technicalities - but I am grateful to you and the others for this very informative learning dialogue. |

Hi Tom, I find it always amazing to use the macro lens to capture what the naked eye cannot see. And the texture of your image with the hairs on the petal is really interesting and sharp. I do agree that there could be maybe an alternative cropping that could make it more interesting - maybe getting closer for more abstraction. Or an image of the whole petal. |

Hi Keith, Interesting and nice image - not much to add beyond the comments of others. I also prefer the diagonal one. This image could also be cropped closer to make it into an abstract one. |

Thank you Tom for the improvement. How did your remove the specular highlights? They look even more alive - they are weird creatures! |

Wow Carol, this is a beautiful image. I am amazed that overall it is so crisp and sharp without a tripod. The face is incredibly sharp and expressive. I am now convinced I need to upgrade to a camera that has the option of focus bracketing... |

Hi Fran, Beautiful light - it almost looks as if there is a fire burning inside. Very nice almost abstract image. I am always struggling on whether all of the image should be sharp - but I agree with Carol that the way you shot it works great. |

Thank you Carol, I'll crop the darker area. Yes - with the macro lens close to them I had the impression they were looking at me. I would not eat them.. |

Hi Bob, wow it is definitely otherworldly. I want to go visit! I like the painting-like way you present it and it definitely projects a sense of great beauty but also of remoteness. The sky is the only part that seemed a bit too yellow to my eyes. Amazing image.

Hi Dan, I also loved this photo - you created a beautiful abstract image. The eyes wander up and down and the mind is full of expectations. I see rivers, I see dunes on the far side... I like the color combination very much. Not much too add - it is amazing. I agree that maybe it could be a bit wider and would be even more impressive. Thank you for sharing. |

Hi Robert, Wow what an image - I also immediately thought of a painting. It conveys the calm and the anticipation. I love the purple of the sky and how it reflects on the snow. The only comment would be as Haru suggested maybe crop a little bit the darker area at the bottom. |

Haru, I like the image very much and I think the low tide actually works very well in delivering the mood. I also like the reflection of the clouds very much. I also like the shadows on the rocks on the sand. I prefer the landscape version - but as has been said it is a matter of personal preference in landscape images. It is a bit crowded as is, but maybe you can crop a bit the 2 sides and achieve the same purpose. |

Thank you Robert, I had not noticed the "S" for the composition - thanks for pointing it out and for the proposed cropping. |

Hi Kate, I agree that this is a very serene and calming scene. I like the reflection of the clouds on the river. I would also go for a landscape view to give a better sense of the breadth. I also think that the foreground brush does not add a lot and if you did a landscape cropping the clouds would have even more prime time. |

Hi Cheryl, I will comment on your re-edited version. It is a beautiful image and I really like the composition. I am always scared shooting photos towards the sun - and feel that unless you see sun clearly it would not be a worthwhile picture. But your re-edited image is an encouragement to keep exploring images with some blowing out of the sun! I totally agree that the man and the dog is a touch that gives perspective and fits in very well. This is also helpful as I always wonder whether having people in a landscape takes away from the purity of the image. |

Thank you Cheryl, wow you improved it sooo much. I appreciate the time you took to rework it. I would be grateful for the screen shot of the changes you made in Lightroom - particularly for the sky. I think these are very important tools. When we travel we cannot control at times... the time of the day when a beautiful photo opportunity arises. |
