Tom, beautiful photo - and very interesting and useful discussion. I want to start experimenting with stacking - any suggestions on readings, software, for a total beginner? thank you |

Carol, I really like this image - the texture feels like a painting. A lot to learn from you in both eliminating the stems in a creative and beautiful way, and also in using the bokeh in such a pleasing way. Beautiful image. |

What a fantastic photo - and I also like Tom's rework. The water drops make fascinating images and you did an amazing job with the string of droplets. Lots to learn.. |

Hi Pat, great job - I can feel the texture, and I really like the lighting. I also think that the area out of focus works well in this case. |

Stuart, wow what an amazing image - at first I though it was a photo of a piece of Murano glass! And I leaned a lot from this discussion and the resources you sent - it is clear to me that in the macro world one needs to learn stacking techniques to achieve a higher level of sharpness. |

Fran stunning picture - the color combination is very pleasing to the eye. Cloning out the dark spot make sit even better. Interesting to use f/22-25 on macro shots - I will also try. |

Hi Bob, I just bought a Lensbaby to use for macro photography, so it is very interesting to see it used for landscapes. Your subject is interesting, but I agree with others that the lens might not work as well for landscapes - at least as Robert says if we want crispness as one of the key goals... The shoreline is indeed distracting and the colors do not look natural to me. I like the composition of the foreground. Would be interesting to see the same picture with a regular lens. |

Hi Cheryl, the blurred clouds do give me a sense of a continuum of time. I agree that would be nice to have as much cloud action on the right side. I love the magenta color and also the reflection of the buildings on the water. The colors and the composition manage to create a very suggestive and nice picture from a group of buildings that could be quite unglamorous. Makes me want to explore more the potential of using ND filters! |

Hi Dan, What a beautiful image - I love the composition and the sense of calm it projects. Also my eye is drawn to the parallel of the clouds forming a triangle and the triangle of the rocks in the foreground. I totally understand the challenge of attempting for an image to bring out the overall impact on the senses of a scene that can only be complete if you put it in the context of the sounds and smells in the moment. I think scenes like this one that catch the moment of stillness and silence in between tides are indeed beyond just visual images. The world feels on hold, until the silence is broken by the water slowly beginning to come back again. |

Hi Robert, apologies for late comments. I am not familiar with the history of destruction so it is hard to feel the tension in your mood coming from this image. What I get is a sense of awe from the majesty of the volcano and the stunning contrast between the flowers and in the same image the snow covered volcano. I also like the paintbrush clouds in the sky and the layered structure of the image. It is a beautiful image to look at, but I do not feel it is a moody or dramatic landscape. |

Hi Kate, Welcome to the Group and apologies for late comments, I was in an area with no internet. As others have said it is a magnificent portrait. Not much to add to all the earlier comments - I like the B&W close up rendering by Haru - although at the same time would be great to have a sense also of the scape/environment around the gorilla. |
