Hi Dan, Striking image - I find the reflection of the colors of the clouds and the sky on the water mesmerizing. The rocks from that perspective reminded me of Halong Bay in Vietnam. Great timing to be there when you could shoot this image. Also, thanks for the learning from your image - I never know when to use filters and I will now try to use them more in sunsets - I love your sky. This is an image I would gladly hang in my studio! |

Hi Cheryl, This photograph is quite amazing overall - you do have a gift in producing expansive images of land/cityscapes.
- on focus point: I think should be the reflection of the mountains on the cracked ice. The fact you could take the picture at that specific time - before water melted is what makes it special to me.
- Currently my eyes are drawn to the mountains with snow first and then towards the ice on the bottom left. Maybe cropping some of the right side might help, as Haru suggests. Also - as others mentioned the pine tree on the side and particularly the one sticking out do feel intrusive.
- On the sky... I think it is a matter of personal preferences. I like the simple and pure blue sky in the original image, to me it creates a balance with the blue of the water.
Finally, The photo of the reflection alone is definitely worth keeping as a stand alone I think.

Hi Robert, the combination and juxtaposition of water, gas and fire are mesmerizing. The idea of a series is great, but this image is excellent by itself too. You definitely bring out the story of hidden power beneath the surface. One can feel it, not just see it. Nothing more for me to suggest. You should be very proud of this image. |

Hi Haru, This is a very beautiful image. Indeed is is calming and it is also awe inspiring - in terms of the beauty of nature. The orange of the autumn leaves adds a touch of color that is soothing to my eyes. This is so beautiful I would like to see images of this same place in the other seasons too! And with the Pano you can really expand the point of view On composition, I also think you have achieved a balanced image on the right and left side. On perspectives, I do not feel the clouds are contradictory, but as mentioned by others maybe could be a bit lighter in tone. Overall a fantastic photo. And makes me want to experiment with Panos! |

Hello Bob, The image is very suggestive - it gives me the sense of the earth being alive. Beautiful. I agree on sharpness comments. In terms of composition, I wonder if you had a version where you could see all of the cloud of smoke - now it is cropped on top. I do like the color version - the blue of the water and the green of the trees I feel enhance the image. |
