Hi Robert, as soon as I saw the image I thought more of an abstraction - in a way that sense would have been even stronger if the title did not give away the exact location and circumstances! I like the mood given by the fact that it is not fully sharp - in fact I personally like the initial version better than the crisper one. I agree on removing the white spots but I like the rest of the composition. I am also very impressed by the fact you could take this picture while on a rocking boat - At times I now feel I have become addicted to the tripod and this is a good reminder to also keep practicing with hand held. |

Hi Cheryl, you are really making me appreciate the beauty of pano shots. I definitely get the moody cold day feeling - although I also like contrast with the warmth emanating from the color of the larger building. I like the crispness of the f18 approach. The frost on the trees is beautiful and I also do not feel it is overdone. In my case, I feel the branches in the lower left side stand out too much, maybe they could also have a bit more frost and be less dark? |

Wow Bob amazing picture! Sorry for late comments this month but I moved back to Miami and I am renovating a house… I am in awe with your creativity and you are an inspiration. The combination of images opens new horizons for creating images that reflect moods and Sci-fi panoramas. I like the monochrome - but maybe greater contrast would make it even more impressive |

Hi Dan, Wonderful image - I love the color palette. Also seems you took the shots from at almost eye level from rocks - gives me ideas for shooting my rocks! I really like the colors of the sky and the atmosphere the whole image projects. And thanks for introducing me to something new - the Orton effect! I am trying to figure out how to create it with Lightroom - I found several you tube videos - suggestions welcome - I think really introduces a dreamy, almost watercolor paining effect. Thank you for a beautiful image to enjoy and learn from. |

Hi Haru, I love the intensity of the colors compared to the December version. Yes, I feel the nostalgia, the sense of impermanence though the different shades of color. For that reason I definitely prefer the color version compared to the B&W. It is a beautiful image as is. A couple of suggestions:
- I would have liked to see the full reflection of the trees in the water
- I would also eliminate the bit of sky on top - does not add much and distracts from focus of image
- My eyes are drawn to the trees on the sides, and then to the ones in the center. Maybe to further focus us onto the middle ones you could darken a bit the left side ones. |

Thank you! Oh well, good to be new so I had no idea about the possible baggage behind revisiting/reshooting same spot ... it is very useful to me this monthly learning and improving process given the stage at which I am at now. Thanks for suggestion on trying to keep the middle rock in the composition. I will try. Also - thanks for the suggestion of a shorter exposure for the sky - I have a new graduated ND filter which I understand should help me with this issue - but I have not used it yet. Will keep exploring! |

Thank you Haru for pushing me forward! I might hang this in one house as an inspiration to get a better one for my other home. The sky... I wish for more clouds to improve background but alas this time of the year there is beautiful clear sky every night with no clouds! Will have to be in a trip not in the dry season. Yes I will follow you advice to keep looking for different spots to take the shot. |

Thank you! all your comments are very encouraging to me. I am lucky to be able to go to the spot often these days so I could figure out the time when the sun lighted the rock. |

Thank you Dan, I will try darkening the right side a bit. Not sure about taking out the middle rock - it is there... I guess I am still struggling with the option of changing the actual scenery to improve composition! |
