All: Per Mike's question, to what extent are editing adjustments acceptable for this group?
The image I posted was prompted by my having looked at some older illustrations on old print media. I should have explained the look I was going for. Perhaps it would have been more appropriate for a creative category group.
Gabrielle, why do fence post images trouble you? Is it because it's a cliche pose? Or maybe because it displays the "hand of man", which is disallowed for nature category? Note the lovely meadowlark posed on the fence post among this month's contributions. I think fence posts and fence rails are not an automatic put-off if the bird is captured well and the background works. ( btw, my hawk image was a snag, not a fence post ).
Thanks all |

Now that's a cool shot!
Maybe a little loss of detail in the male's breast and wing feathers.
It would likely be difficult, but perhaps the female's bill could be cleaned up. |

I checked my Kaufman Field Guide and indeed it shows an illustration of a male Brown Pelican in breeding plumage with similar colors. Agree with Tom; I've never seen such vibrant colors in Florida.
Could be a crab in his bill? Good capture.I bet a burst could have caught him with his bill more open (in"retrospect") |

Such a fascinating depiction of the take-off. I thought the bird might be landing at first. I'm going to pay more attention to how they and other waterbirds take off and land now. Agree the underside might be lighter. |

Thanks all. I agree with all the observations. I think I may have been captivated by her smile. I agree that a less cropped, less blurred for FOV would have been preferable. |

Wait, is this heaven? What a beautiful image. Looks like a Monet.
I don't know if it would be possible, but I wonder if the gazebo might be made a little more impressionistic. This is nit picking, but the gazebo seems a little sharp compared to the soft and swirly foliage. I took a shot at this. The difference is so subtle as to remain firmly in the nit picking category. |

Gunter and Elaine,
I really like your further back point of view. I was too "focused" on the lady's smile. Bringing back the context of the store's products, while busy, is a better depiction of the street scene. Thanks |

Ok, I'm going. A beautiful landscape.
Looks like a different sky?
