Nice and super sharp at 1/3200. Maybe the breast area could be brightened up a bit?
The pelican is probably looking for a place to land among the Sea Lions at that beautiful cove. |

Great capture! What a pretty little bird. Agree the catch light is a plus. |

Nice composition, agree with Tom. Looks like the geese have set their wings and are gliding in for a landing. |

Great shot. It's like the egret had someone touch up his makeup before the headshot! Even the bill is very clean, and the feather detail is emphasized just right imho. Thanks for the reminder about how good Gatorland is. |

I like the shot of these lovely birds. What kind are they?
My feeder has a fence behind it, making compositions impossible. You have inspired me to re-locate it. Thanks.
Maybe the shutter speed could have been increased to capture unanticipated movement, like in the wing of the upper bird. Birds will do that to you! (as you know.)

Indeed a great capture. Tack sharp. Maybe the cichlid's eye could be lightened too. |

Tom and Mike,
Thanks for your observations. You helped me learn a few things....
1. Editing photos can cause eye fatigue which in my case results in what looks like a satisfactory image looks way overcooked when reexamined 24 hrs later. This sure happens in music editing. I re-did clarity, texture, haze reduction, etc. Reduction of sharpening didn't seem to help too much, but I can see where it could.
2. By haloing, in this case originally, I meant the area in immediate proximity to the subject. I think I improved this when manipulating the degree of difference exposure and contrast between the backlit bird and the sky while masking in LR. I used "add and subtract" a lot.
3. When I look at the .jpeg within Preview on my Mac, I see broad swaths of different shades of blue haloing out to the periphery of the image. Same on the view within our digital dialog. When I look at it within LR, as a .dng, these swaths are not visible. I imagine this is due to the downgrade in quality due to lossy compression due to the conversion to .jpeg. The artifact was less noticeable when I allowed the export a larger file size. I'll re-check the DD's limitations for the size of files.
I attached another version. What do you think?
Tom: it was at The Ocala Wetlands Recharge Park. I go there fairly frequently. You too? |

Thanks Gunter and Elaine....I did what y'all said. I chopped off most of the people, (More of the people's forms not available in the original),readjusted the filter, added some radial exposure around the uppermost lamps, used color range and luminance to reduce some of the color anomalies caused by the filter, and reduced the luminance of the gold/yellow, and used a graduated filter on top . Do you think it's better? |

I wondered about that. It's an improvement; the viewer no longer is drawn to the peoples' heads to try to see them better. Thanks! |

Very nice high key image of something most would overlook. Great focus throughout at f / 13. Did you Bring it inside and use a light box? |

That is a great street photo. Broad tonality, lots of pertinent detail. A likely winner in competition in my opinion. You captured him in a relaxed and candid pose.
I must ask everyone...when photographing people in public places is the granting of permission implied and automatic? I think this is a safe place to show photos like this, and I have a couple I'd like to share with the group, but I'm a trifle nervous about it.
