Gotta love a spider plant. I really like the black background and the reflective surface. Was this lit from above? natural or artificial light? Whichever, it works. |

I love the presence and weight of the globes of cactus. Bob's idea seems like another way to emphasize this. With this in mind, I tried to pin-cushion and otherwise distort the cacti with LR distortion and NIK perspective. It was a fun exercise, but I didn't improve the image. Indeed, I only distorted the pleasing geometry of the plants, so I didn't bother to submit.
I'm surprised there is so much DOF at 1.8 |

I think it's a great use of LRC and Topaz 2. Funny how it seems we all sort of enjoy the shift from photorealism to painterly images. Very well composed, too. |

It's lovely. I find it more tranquil than riotous. Compositing/blending the two certainly works, probably better than old-fashioned double exposures. The center blossoms (asters?) are a complimentary orange; maybe down playing this vivid color in the very center of the image would allow the eye to drift a bit, rather than focusing on one subject. Sounds like a motto: " I'd rather drift than focus".
Sorry about the silliness.... |

Wow, the wildness and intensity of this beast... Is this a red deer? England?
Wouldn't change a thing. |
