Hi Carol, I did re-do the post-processing from the original raw file.. I only did very little dimming on the background. If I do not darken the background a bit, the green leaves (with reflection) would be quite distracting to the subject. Somehow the thin dark edge around the flower also exists (but not as noticeable) in the original image. Yeah, I cropped it a bit tighter than usual as I think this image is under 'macro' theme. Will try again later with more feathering and smoothing of the edges.
Thank you very much for your feedback.. I value this kind of discussions so my level of post processing could raise in time. Appreciate your time. |

Stuart, great composition.. The lighting makes the fuzzy white hair stand out more.. Love the perspective and the angel of shot.. It won't give you that if capturing outdoor on the ground. Just wondering what do you use to get the flower stem standing up for the shots indoor? |

Hey, Gloria.. This is an amazing shot. You have captured such evenly hanging water drops on the spider web.. Lighting is perfect with softly blurred background. I tried capturing spider webs multiple times over the years.. But never got a good result.. Something I do want to achieve.. |

Good suggestion.. I may try it as well.. Not just for stacking.. but have a choice of where the best should the focus point be. |

The fly must be on top of pink peonies.. The dream-like pink and white make it quite artistic. The fly looks amazingly sharp.. I think, thanks to the flashing ring.. ? Great shot. |

Thanks, Margaret. You are totally right.. I have just done hastily the post-processing.. and should have apply feathering when asking the subject out of the background.
Thanks for your input. |

Thanks, Carol.
I have over-done the contrast on the flower subject.
It's a bit of challenge in coming up a nice layout structure for this image.. Maybe I could just clone out the big green leaf right above? |

Yes. I did a poor job in cropping this image.. It teaches me that don't wait till the last minute to work on and submit the image. I was trying not to include the big leaf right above the flower, but ended up cutting off the flower stem.
I did not apply mask on this one.. However, in Photoshop, one can select the subject and then work on the background (inverted).. I could have applied feathering to minimize the faked-looking edge due to the difference in resulting contrast.
Appreciate very much to your input. |
