Pat, it's just some stem collected and twisted it.. The sprays to make water drops (to stay as well) took up quite a bit of time. |

Thanks, Tom.
Yes. I should have used Layer Mask in PS (such as adjustment layer) instead of just select and adjust the green stem. The white edge was the result of over-contrast / sharpening. |

Hi Carol, like the way you replace the background. Great job.
The green 'tracks' do lead our eyes to the sharply focused brown stem.. just wondering whether the bright right side of the melon is a bit distracting? Would slightly pushing down its brightness help please the eyes? Just a thought. |

Pat, love the texture of the brown belts.. and your way of guiding us to the area you want us to look at.. Good composition.. something I want to improve on. Thanks. |

Wow.. 53 shots to make this one.. I can see the power of stacking.. The black background does help showing off the petals.. which everyone has a shiny tip. Thanks for sharing the outcome of your new equipment. |

Hi Gloria, very interesting capture.. I have also developed similar habit to do some macro shots on small things while outdoor (since joining this study group).. You never know when you might get a wonderful shot that our eyes do not easily see and realize.
Good job. |

Hi Fran, love this high key close-up shot.. Very good colour contrast. Yes, I agree with Carol and Stuart, masking off the bottom right dark portion would improve the overall attractiveness of the image. |

Hi Stuart,
Thanks for your interest looking into the image.
The only post processing editing I have done was using PS 'select subject' to pick the foreground green stem, then do an inverse to the background and lower the brightness on the rose and contrast to make the water drops more standing out. I also sharpened the foreground green stem and water drops.
My weakness is not spending sufficient time on the details during post-processing.. hence did not notice the green edges are bit too sharp hence showing some not-so-natural edges. I also noticed that there are a few 'hairs' from the green stem has become background and should have excluded or just removed.
Your good points accepted.. I should pay more attention when doing post-processing (esp when I try for some competition in the future). Thanks for the advice.

Hi Carol,
Thanks very much for your kind words.. Really appreciate it.
I took quite a few shots before coming up with this one that I like. |
