Technically great focus on the nail, showing all the striations and imperfections. Lots of detail in surrounding skin. Good work for a SmartPhone. |

Hi Carol- I also love poppies and they can be a challenge to shoot. The way you have the crop really accentuates the center of the flower and all the detail there; and you got rid of all the green background, which is distracting. The way you have the crop and the processing shows a pattern of the 4 dark petal ends which help frame the center. The color is lovely. |

Hi Stuart- I would echo Gloria's comments. The colors and composition are great. If the eyes/face were sharp, it would be an even better image. |

Love the shell full of shells. Such a complex number of layers, I think your attempt at focus bracketing is good. I don't have anything useful to add on this technique as I have not used it yet. |

Hi Keith- I don't have much to add either. I would think hand held on a live animal would be difficult to focus bracket, and perhaps a different f stop like f/8 or even f/11 would get the whole frog more in focus with one shot. Great capture of the bugs, but they are a bit creepy! Colors are fantastic. |

Hi Stuart and Gloria- this is part of a statue and these metal pieces are close to 1:1 in this photo. The image was made to capture the color and texture of the tarnished copper. I am attaching an image of the entire statue, named "Zoey", in the Statue Garden in Kingsbrae Garden in St Andrews, NB. I was attending a workshop with Freeman Patterson. |
